As for the bell, there's only one but it was always I guess comforting to hear it throughout the house.

I guess your cat didn't like the bell.

Actually she did. Frankly I'm perplexed, do you have a problem or something?

Sorry I'm late to the post but I wanted to offer a word of support and sympathy to TheMovieman. I've lost pets I held dear too in the past and I know it can hurt, especially if they've been with you for a long time. In time, the hurt will fade away and only the nice memories will remain.

Actually she did.

I know people who would call it cruelty to animals.

I'm thinking about your cat, about the life she has led.

bbbbb,

I feel your posts are extremely insensitive. To accuse someone who just lost their beloved animal of cruelty is despicable.

You don't know that animal and she might very well liked that bell. Even if she did not, to say such a thing at this time is...well YOU are the one that is cruel.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

My sympathies for your loss. Those of us who always have a pet know we will lose them long before we go away. I have always had one, two, occasionally three cats in my house (we currently have one), and occasionally a dog. Unfortunately, it is a rare cat or dog who lives to much more than 15 years or so, thus we know we will need to cope with the grief when they are gone. But just like falling in love carries the risk of heartbreak, owning and caring for a pet who depends on you and comforts you and amuses you (as I'm certain we amuse them) carries the certainty that they will most likely pass before we do.

We live we love. Everything is impermanent, which is one great reason everything is so special, especially the companionship of a loving pet.

We have many cat and dog lovers here... this is a good place to share your loss. Looking at the photo of Gracie reminds me to hold and pet my gray tabby Flair... I wonder where she is?
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

bbbbb always has a weird sense of humor, was definitely a thing that should not have been said.

And yes, we have many pet lovers here, one of the reasons I come here each day is to look at the cat and dog thread to look at those cute animal pics

Weird or not, it was still hurtful and baffling why he would even say something like that. Anyway, that will be last I will say on the subject...

In any case, I wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and if you have a cat or dog, don't take them for granted as life even by human standards is short, even more so for them. I will always miss Gracie as I have the others who have passed over the years but I know things will get better.

I have a cat that when she was younger, I had to put a bell & collar on her because she kept sneaking up on the other cats all ninja like.
