Haha, Disney was going to do the entire Narnia series, but gave it away to Fox after the second one.

I can't imagine a Star Wars movie without the FOX fanfare at the beginning and opening music and crawl; I hope they keep that or it won't be the same, like how there was a WB logo on the Clone Wars movie.

TRON Legacy proves Disney is capable of an exciting-for-adults-and-kids, highly detailed science fiction world. I know some people didn't like it, but I thought it was awesome.

Disney proved, with Marvel, that they knew how to keep their hands to themselves.  I have no reason to believe they would do anything different with Lucasfilms.

And I liked Jar Jar Binks.  Midi-chlorians, now those were idiotic.

do you think the kids of tomorrow  will like Star Wars as it was in 1977 ( 1997) ??

probably Not ...  Kids today do not appreciate anything made before 1970.....

Disney is definitely putting out non-Disney G material, even what I'd call high PG or worse on kids networks.

Take a look at TRON: Uprising. People getting killed (derezzed) almost every episode.

But that said, TRON: Uprising is a most excellent show worthy of the TRON label.

A nice little story, about the next trilogy, and an interview with George and the new head of Lucasfilm.

I'm wondering how much they'd stick with the establish mythos. If memory serves, the Emperor's spirit was so strong that he can't really die & can take form in another host. That his ability to extend his will over others spanned the entire galaxy which ended with his physical death at the hands of Luke.

Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

Just a minor point...Luke did not kill the Emperor.

One thing I believe gets ignored by movie fans is that, since the 1990s, the movies are only 10% of the overall "story" now. There are almost 300 novels that have been written, all of which add to/expand the mythology of the series.

I gotta admit, the idea of Disney somehow being responsible for giving us the original unaltered trilogy had me laughing out loud.  These idiots can't even stop screwing with their own animation classics and we're hoping they save Star Wars?  Oh the irony.

Disney is taking over Lucasfilm.  Big frakkin whoop.  So, now the fans who know better will be bitchin at Disney instead of Lucas.  Maybe that's why he sold Luscasfilm.  Of course, there is that 4 billion dollars...

It is a huge deal to turn your ground-up-built business over to someone else, even if you receive money and a staff position for doing so. It all depends on the amount of love you have for the business that you created.

I have seen several people hand over their business (some to family or friends, and some to other companies) who then rage when things change and the company "isn't what it used to be."

I feel some of your cynicism, but Disney have made a 4 billion dollar investment here. It is there for vital that these new films are not only a commercial, but a critical success to ensure that there massive  investment pays off.

Not just in the immediate future, but in the many decades to follow.
