^ WB did me right on a faulty DVD some years ago, too.  (I had to pay one way shipping, but got an upgrade version in return.)

^ I had a similar situation where two of my original DVDs developed disc rot and were unplayable.  The titles were about ten years old and were OOP and unavailable however Universal offered to replace them free of charge.  They must keep a stock pile of each disc just in case of situations like these and the replacement discs were identical to the defective discs.

This is an area I'd look to see developed into a full blown forum post and that is to report the title and studio and disc ID  of DVD's with disc Rot .. because as I said in an earlier post I don't always look in on my titles on a month to month/or a year to year basis ..
I may have copies that are defective and would like to see a  report card on any abnormality 's of DVD's or HiDef Discs .. so I could persue manufactors for a full replacement ,, I seem to remember that dvd's or Cd's were guaranteed to last a 100 years .... under the right climate conditions .

I do have another disc in my possession that is virtual unplayable and is not recognized by a number of  DVD players  and that title is Lady In White Directors Ed. # 790594524029  I'd contact the company involved Elite Entertainment but they appear to no longer be in business .....
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

I agree with you and I am going to start the thread for it.

I put collector... I spend more time collecting than watching... I see most things in the theater, then buy on disc, and get to whenever (or never) but own and enjoy owning. Same for TV... see lots of tv on the TiVo and then buy as it's released. I enjoy collecting and owning wonderful film and tv. I love film, but I simply don't have the time to watch it at home consistently.

Im pretty surprised that I am in the minority here.

I am too. I thought many users would be like you.

I personally can't get my head around collecting and not watching. If I did that I would stop buying and use the money for other interests. I buy because it means I can re-watch; and to not do so seems to make collecting redundant. But hey, each to their own!
