| Posted: | | | | Congratulations to the dutch! I was totally wrong tipping this match a 1:1, but hey, my other guesses were not so bad. My guesses were: Mexico - Cameroon 2:0 (instead of 1:0) Chile - Australia 3:1 (my first win) My guess for the next match: Colombia - Greece 1:1 |

| Posted: | | | | @Micha: I don't think even the most chauvinist Dutch fan expected this. Anyone who put a bet on this result at the bookies should be very rich now... |

| Posted: | | | | I have been a fan of Dutch football for many years. When I first began coaching soccer, my first coach's coach was Brazilian, one who played on pro teams and whose older brother had once been a teammate of an older Pele. As I gained experience, my coaches were the Ziemer brothers (look up Sonoma State men's soccer records and NCAA division II scoring records) who had been trained in the Netherlands. My daughter and I studied with Frans Hoek and Joop Lensen. Thus I have a good understanding of Spanish football (Hoek coached at Barcelona for a long time).
Spain has used German and Dutch coaches for decades and obviously, it has paid off for them. But now that Hoek went to Poland, and other younger coaches replaced the older ones, Spain is nearing the end of their dominance. How many World Cup finals have featured the Dutch? Six? More than any other country yet to win the final. And what is the population of the Netherlands compared to every other World Cup winner? The Orange are rebuilding, and I think they even surprised themselves at how they handled the great Spanish team on Friday. Their progress is running far faster than anyone imagined. Just as Spain will win and dominate many matches over the next few years, the Netherlands will lose matches spectacularly as they build.
Orange is coming back... | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

How do you calculate that? Brazil has 5 titles, and was 2 times 2nd place. Therefore it was 7 times in the final game. Italy 4/2=6 Germany 3/4=7 Argentina 2/2=4 | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Brazil has 5 titles, and was 2 times 2nd place. Therefore it was 7 times in the final game. Italy 4/2=6 Germany 3/4=7 Argentina 2/2=4 ...2nd place or 10th place - you go home in defeat |
