BTW for thos who are lending DVDs and even those who aren't, I refer you to my signature for a chuckle and an all too true commentary on this topic.

... and for a european guy: What are these three letter acronyms about?

What? BTW? "by the way"

I love three letter acrynoms. Even three letter acrynom is a TLA.

No, I ment the "CBE, MBE, MoA" stuff; - since I needed some time to figure out what the "Blockbuster" line wants to tell us...

YES
ok - last time I sorted my collection I was missing about 30!!! DVDs -
I asked at work, if anyone could have them - and: yes, one college had them for several months
and yes - there's another good friend of mine, how never returns them without asking -
but why not lend DVDs? last dvds I bought are below 10.-€
It's easy to do little favors for friends - and sometimes I get chocolate or potato chips in return!

I don't have problems lending out my collection to most of my friends and family.

Only once did I have a problem - tiny scratchs on a couple of them. Most people probably wouldn't have noticed but I'm obsessive - besides my mother did it, what could I say?!

The only person on my "no" list is my brother - 6 kids, 4 of them under the age of 8. Need I saw more?

I had to go with "Other"

I don't lend movies as a general rule, unless it's somebody I've known for decades, and I know I can trust them completely, but I will loan my stand-up comedies.
They sought it with thimbles, they sought it with care,
They pursued it with forks and hope.
They threatened it's life with a railway share,
They charmed it with smiles and soap

Went with "other" as well.

I am quite selective with whom I lend to. Very few people actually. People I know will have even more care with them than myself because they're not theirs.
I could have called them best friends, but I could not use the best friends options as I'd never ever lend a DVD to the vast majority (entirety?) of my family

Loaning gradually shrunk down to "family only."

Even there they had to go through an arduous training process of how to properly handle DVDs.

I've learned my lesson on lending. I had a co-worker who swore he'd take care of my copy of Transformers the Movie 20th Anniversary edition. After about 3 weeks of pestering him to return it, I went to his house and took it back. I got home and the disc wasn't in the case. I called him and he'd left it in his eMac at our office. Trouble was, the computer in question had just been pulled earlier that day for replacement.

I had to go and wade through all the other eMacs we'd pulled, find his and power it up just to get the disc out.

No more lending for me.
