In the US, concessions is where most of the profit is made. On popcorn, as an example, they make 90 cents on the dollar. Sodas are also a huge profit. According to the manager at the theater my son worked at, they got their Coke syrup for free, so it was all profit. I have no doubt that the same profit margins exist for all the other stuff they sell.
