| Posted: | | | | good points..,, I was also taken back by another item prior to- and up to the Oath was Barack's full name. News announcers as well as 'host' Dianne Feinstein announced him as Barack H. O'Bama and others have only stated Barack O'Bama.., where as the point of reference during the swearing in gave his true middle name as Hussein . (One of which I'm sure a small portion of Americans did not know he had the same middle name as a certain someone else.. ) I mean,, how many George Bush 's or Bill Clintons are there in the world ?? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. I was amazed he missed or screwed up a line of oath as well., as his twenty minute speech he gave soon after was dead on, not scripted, as he never looked down once or had any notes., Which made me wonder if his speech was memorized to a T, or if the speech came from his heart and needed no memorizing as the words he gave are truly his own. I'm a fine one when it comes to giving speeches, let alone a 20 minute speech. but to give the words a real flow of drama in those minutes was , as all OBamas speeches are., truly mesmerizing., and that is just one of the truly gifted talents of your new president., How lucky you are.. You can have Harper any day. As most presidents do, he used a teleprompter. It can be seen on the right hand side of the podium. He is, as you say, a gifted speaker. But I can't judge him based on his speaking ability. I can only judge him based on his actions. I really don't understand all this excitement. The man hasn't done a thing yet. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. One day does not make a presidency. Talk to me again in a year or two. That is when we will know whether or not he is getting anything done. Quote: If you remember what George Bush Jr did back in 2001 was take vacation after vacation until 9/11 hit. More propaganda. The president is never 'on vacation'. He may be away from the white house, but he is never 'off the job'. It is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, job. On a side note, you seem to be under the mistaken impression that I don't like Obama. I neither like nor dislike him. The problem I have is that, unlike most of the people who become president, Obama doesn't have a real track record. I am sorry, but I refuse to get excited simply because he isn't 'Bush'. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Let's see how he deals with the Gaza issue and Hamas. They seem to think that Obama will be more sympathetic and amend Middle Eastern policy compared to the criminal Bush. Let's see how far he goes there. Afterall, a lot of the world's woes stem from Middle Eastern hot-bed issues. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

But so far, he seems to have hit the ground running. Not to seem overly critical but just how difficult is it to make a speech, attend a parade and then visit ten inaugural balls? I agree, he has done nothing yet. Time will tell. The thing I'm afraid of is that he may be just as liberal as his voting record was. | | | Dan |

Feel free to cut him all the slack you wish, but please don't tell me it's too early to tell exactly what we've gotten. Anybody that objectively looked at his record instead of swooning over his speeches, already knows. | | | Hal |

Not that I'm a big fan of Harper (even if I've voted for him at the last election and I will do the same at the next one), but he is certainly a better Prime Minister than Jean Chretien or Paul Martin (at least as a French Canadian I feel that I'm more respected by the federal governement). I just hope that we will go again in election mode soon and finally get a Conservative majority. Now back to the US politics |
