Of course, the difference was that the number of titles released was just a fraction of what is released on DVD. More like how many BD titles are released today. So you could buy all those titles that really interested you. Unfortunately some of them cost up to $100...

You are not the only one!  I currently have about 800 unwatched titles!  I try to limit myself to titles that I can pick up at Frys or other local stores. Total - 137 Some of the kids DVD I haven't watched, so they don't count. (If it says "Barbie", I ain't watching it.) I actually keep a spreadsheet with how much time I need to spend to get caught up. It stands at about 90 hours right now, helped along by 5 seasons of Get Smart. Luckily, I have two 12 hour train rides coming up. So that should kill some of it.
