| Posted: | | | | Getting mine this week. Read a review on DVD Talk that said it was saturated with DNR like Patton. I will add that I'm part of a small minority that found no problem with Patton. I think this was because I have a 32" LCD SONY monitor. I really believe this is a real issue for larger TVs NOT smaller ones. This is not to say that one should buy small displays to avoid the problem though. It simply won't be an issue for the smaller screen. Sorry for you folks with the larger monitors. This could be one of the only pluses for people like my self. The few friends I have who reallly know their stuff about HT and HD discs have come to concur reluctantly with me on this point as they have never been able to point it out in person such that it is truly noticeable or distracting.
Hope I haven't brought down anyone. The copy I have at present is the Ultimate Edition DVD by Artisan. so the upgrade is one I'll spring for.
The reviewer also mentions the rumor that Cameron will possibly revisit T2 for a remastering after his labors on Avatar. I think his time would be MUCH BETTER spent at that point on redoing The Abyss for BluRay. Lord! The last special edition released is still non-anamorphic. Come on Jim, give your fans a break! |

| Posted: | | | | I read the review at DVDTalk as well (and apparently blu-ray.com as well as Bill Hunt agree) and have stepped back from the purchase.
I putting my money in the rumor about James Cameron and the fact that the 20th anniversary is coming up... While I also "only" own the Ultimate Ediiton I have other stuff I can purchase right now...
EDIT: Well, I just found that a) Bill Hunt revised his comment and practically made a 180° turn and b) on the High-Def Digest Forum Van Ling himself confirmed that not only did he not order Noise reduction to be applied but also the transfer was (prior to encoding) approved by James Cameron.
I'll reconsider and may buy it after all. It is one of my favorite films... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) | | | Last edited: by nuoyaxin |

| Posted: | | | | You get your copy yet Hal? I'm very curious about the endoskull. I will probably get it regardless but would be nice to know if it's as cool as it looks before I plunk down the $100.00 |

I hope to have it in my hot little hands tomorrow afternoon. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. It is made of plastic,so will have to be handled with care, but it is quite stunning. It plays plays multiple different sound effects from the movie while the eyes light up and flash slightly. I actually expected the Discs to be inside the statue, but they come separately in a keepcase. It will definitely add pizazz to my "special collection" area! Definitely worth the money! I still can't figure out how I'm going to scan that front image. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

I still can't figure out how I'm going to scan that front image. That is good to hear. The discs for my Planet of the Apes and Nightmare Before Christmas bust are contained inside the busts. I don't like the idea of having to handle them whenever I want to watch the films. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Interestingly, the keep case is one I've never encountered before. It's like a single disc keep case with a single spindle, but the spindle is tall enough for all six discs to slide down onto it.
Interesting. | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | So, is this a boxset or a Blu-ray release with several "bonus films".
Options:
1. Parent Boxset with no specific data and five child profiles (disc 6 is the digital copy)
Or
2. Profile of the Blu-ray version with all data for that release with four child profiles | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | After taking a closer look, I have discovered that there is a compartment on the back of the base in which you can store the discs themselves.
I'm with Unicus here though....I'll keep mine in the keep case and limit handling the Endoskull which picks up fingerprints real quick! | | | Hal |

Interesting. Like this? I've only seen them used for PC games before. |

| Posted: | | | | OK, I have set mine up as a Blu-ray release with two bonus films, therefore two child profiles. I downloaded the profiles for the "Ultimate Edition" and the "Extreme Edition" and changed the UPCs to the Disc ID of the first disc of each movie in this set and changed the cover images to match the parent profile.
I haven't decided whether I'm going to submit these profiles (using the Disc ID instead of the UPC).
I'm open to feedback. | | | Hal |

Hate it to handle the first 2 discs to get to number 3... But I agree with unicus, it's better than the discs with the item. I still need to get a blank case to put my Dark Knight discs in; I purchased the special edition and the discs are in a plastic casing behind that bike. Still on the fence myself, but I tend towards the regular release right now. Of course, if I can get it with another 20% off during the (upcoming...?) DeepDiscount sale, then that might change... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

Of course, would they roll it would be even cooler as it is now. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |
