No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Stay strong, Cliff. Be strong when you have to be; otherwise, grieve as you must.

Cliff,

As a Christian man I pray for you and your daughter and her family.  I cant begin to know your loss since my kids are still young but I can keep you in my prayers and thoughts.

Please feel free to PM me if you need anything special in my prayers or if you just want a friend to talk to I'm here to listen and help you with any words of strenght you might need.

Sometimes people who have never known being a parent just don't understand.  I also pray for those who don't seem to understand your situation and your need to grieve, for they also need guideance.

GOD bless.

PS. Thanks to the Moderator for removing the name calling.

My latest news is a few hours old. I was called at work (not on my cell phone) by my son-in-law's mother. He is with the girls (it is his one day off this week), as my daughter is in an operating room receiving more than one blood transfusion. They went to the ob/gyn office today and after waiting a few hours with the still pregnant ladies, she went in. Things went poorly, and the plancenta would not separate. No one has given me any news since then.

Okay -- Some of the above is incorrect. I was interrupted by a phone call from my daughter. She is staying overnight at the hospital. To set the story straight: while she was in the waiting room at the ob/gyn, she began bleeding severely, miscarrying the baby. They sent her and her husband to the hospital ER. Crossing the parking lot at the hospital, she began bleeding so exttemely that they had to send out a gurney and strip her in the parking lot. They put her on drugs to stop the bleeding, which had the additional effect of stopping the miscarriage. They left her alone in an ER room, where her blood pressure dropped to nearly nothing. They gave her a pint of blood and took her to the operating room where she required more blood and they had to separate the placenta from her body. Now her blood pressure is back to normal, and other than the sadness of losing the child, she is doing fairly well. My son-in-law is taking a personal day off work tomorrow to watch the girls.

Again, thank you all for your warm thoughts. It appears that things do get better, even if the road remains rocky.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Im glad you shared that. I certainly find it feels good to share things to try get my head straight. Had i known your situation was this serious i would not have gotten as angry as i did after the PM and posted some pretty intensive stuff.

For that you have my most sincere apology.

Im just putting this whole thing on this thread down to misinterpretation and not about to entertain the whole sorry mess any more and just take relief in the fact you seem to be feeling better.

I'm sorry. Did I write that I'm feeling better? My unborn grandchild is dead. My older daughter, mother of my only grandchildren nearly died today. She and her husband and the kids are living in a one-room motel room with no kitchen. He cannot take any more days off work beyond tomorrow or he will lose his job. There are no relatives within 400 miles of them.

I'm not feeling better. I am relieved that only one potential person has died, and not my daughter as well. I'm feeling terrible but grateful for the kind wishes of nearly everyone here. You continue to show an insensitivity to my feelings. I'd prefer not to have to deal with you. I'd rather not have to be bothered with that distraction as well.

Now I have to decide if I need to take a week or so off work (losing pay and failing to help my boss save his job), drive to SoCal, stay in the one motel room with them and be a baby-sitter/nurse for my three granddaughters and my ailing daughter so my son-in-law can keep his job. This is not easy. It grows more complicated with every passing minute.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Well i think in all fairness i was meaning better under the circumstances. Feeling better in the sense you are more in tune and thinking straight. There is also only so much sensitivity i can covey over the medium of computer.

At least i made a consorted effort of which to do so and make a mends for the misunderstandings. If that's not to your liking well i guess iam sorry once again. Then again we can agree to one thing there's bigger problems at hand.

As for getting time off don't know if you have bereavement leave over there but that's something to consider. You get still get paid and your circumstances seem to cover the criteria.

Personally, I found the poem that Cliff posted at the beginning of this post to be very inspirational not depressing. The news itself was depressing and I though that the first post expressed the feelings of loss and sadness in a way that converyed Cliffs feelings admirably without his having to give us all the details. I think that FilmAlba's initial comment was insensitive at best!

Cliff, I do hope that you and all your family will be ok both from the loss and in the job crisis that seems to be following your daughter's family. It must ne extra hard for them with no family nearby to call on to help and I think that your son-in-law's boss is being extra insensitve to his needs to look after his family. That seems, unfortunately, to be a norm in business these days!

(Please note that I am not trying to inflame all the bad feeling that seems to be prevalent in this thread!)

Thank God you still have your daughter in a more or less stable condition after this ordeal. I wish you lots of strength and wisdom in dealing with the social challenges that you and your family are being confronted with. Stay strong!

Maybe a stupid question, but do we have any members in or near Anaheim that might be able to take care of the the children for a few days?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
