Right now where baking in heat though. |

Why, exactly, does anyone wish to leave wounds? | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Why, exactly, does anyone wish to leave wounds? The word cancer is Greek for crab. Does that mean we have crabs growing inside of us Those who get cancer that is. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

Why, exactly, does anyone wish to leave wounds? In that case, Daruma, sarcasm is not what I intended. Or do you feel that example I gave was designed to wound? So what if I change my question to "Is irony bad?" | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

"Did the rules change in the meantime?" to me is snarky, and will only serve to make the person who made the mistake feel belittled. Your second suggestion of "Did you change your opinion?" is a much better response. Especially if your goal is to "help the discussion along." With the first response, the discussion may continue uninterrupted, but it may very well also take a left turn into insult slinging. With a straight up question like "Did you change your opinion?" you are much more likely to get a civilized response. | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! Gunnar: You don't want me to comment, my friend. All in all, I have to say I find your question highly amusing, and you should be able to answer it on your own. You are a very sarcastic person by nature, that's not a bad thing by the way, BUT you don't like it when it is turned on you. That is your shortfall, amigo, and a common one at that. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

I didn't get a chance to read your original reply to the quoted sarcasm before your reply got moderated, but I'm lead to believe that it was "Grow a brain". I may be wrong, but I don't think that phrase falls under the category of sarcasm. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | No, I don't Gunnar. You are misinterpreting what I was saying. I simply said that you do not like it when sarcasm is used on you, and then you ask the question. I appreciate your wanting to figure that out ,but you do need to recognize that simple truth, my friend. I have no idea what you are referring to by moderated post. There is not one for anyone in this thread.<shrugs> Maybe it's a language issue of some sort, as I pointed out in my first post your sarcasm usually appears to me to be spoiling for a fight and now you take what i thought was a comment which was, I thought, innocuous but perhaps helpful, into a something that you want to fight about. I give up, not worth it. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Skip, I didn't mean to say that you were trying to. I meant that if I pushed this further it might turn into mudslinging. And I'll try not to start a fight where none is called for. If it is called for, though... (But I'll burn that bridge when I come to it ) | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. | Posted: | | | | I general I enjoy sarcasm and I think it can be as funny as it is disarming. However, the important this is that the person to whom you direct your sarcasm clearly understands this. That really depends on the situation and person you address. For example, my wife never catches sarcasm or cynicism since it's non-existent in her culture. When we were first dating, I accidentally hurt her on a few occasions because of that. So, I never use sarcasm with her anymore.
Especially in online situations you need to be careful since the written word conveys much less the intent of the message that the spoken word (no intonation, no facial expressions). Therefor in online situations I try to be extra careful although I've made errors in the past in that regard myself.
So I don't think it's a bad thing perse but you need to be careful with it. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |
