42) What is/are your favorite movie line(s)/speech(es)?
"Deep down in places you don't wanna talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall..." Don't remember the whole speech, but it's a good one.

I can't believe that I forgot to mention that one or President Whitmore's speech before the final battle in Independence Day.

Great replies everyone! This has been a lot of fun to read so far

1) Do you place your DVDs into cases with the label rotated straight?
No

2) Do you keep the "toys" from special-release DVDs?
I try to avoid such releases, but I do have all the Lord of the Rings statues on top of my shelves. My showgirls stuff is in a box next to my couch.

3) Do you lend out your DVDs to family?
Yes

4) ... What about to friends?
Yes

5) ... What about to friends of friends?
No

6) Do you rent out your DVDs?
No

7) Do you more often give, sell, or keep unwanted DVDs?
Some combination. I used to trade them away on Switchplanet, but it went belly up when I had $200 in credits. They are rarely worth the trouble to sell.

8) Do you always store your DVDs in their original cases?
Yes, but not necessarily the whole kaboodle. For instance, I have the digipack from I Am Legend shelved, not the whole box.

9) Do you have a theater room in your home?
Yes. Finding a house with a room suitable to be a theater was a big consideration when I bought my house.

10) Do you own a popcorn machine and/or soda dispenser?
No. I don't eat popcorn and just drink my soda, as you Easterners call it, straight out of the bottle.

11) Do you or a friend invite others over for "Movie Night?"
In theory, yes. My best friends are agoraphobic and quadriplegic, which makes it difficult to get the into my house.

12) Do you ever set DVDs as background noise not for focusing on them?
No

13) Have you ever printed out custom artwork for your case cover(s)?
No

14) Have you ever put off buying a needed item so you could buy a DVD?
No. DVDs are too cheap to interfere with my budgeting like that. I have put off major expenses in order to buy home theater equipment, though.

15) Have you ever returned the wrong DVD to a rental or store?
No, but the sheriff did once where I used to live. He ended up resigning over it.

16) Have you ever returned an empty case?
No, but I once went to watch Monty Python and realized half the cases were empty and thought I must have bought a defective set. It was too late to return it by then. I later realized I had put them in a CD wallet so I could carry them around at school to watch between classes a year earlier and forgotten.

17) Have you ever forgotten to return a DVD for an extended length?
Yes. See #24

18) Have you ever had a DVD stolen from you?
I'm pretty sure someone stole Blade II from my old apartment. At least it never turned up. My copy of Mystery Science Theater 3000 Volume 2 is missing as well. I think one of my former roommate's friends took it.

19) Have you ever accused someone of stealing a DVD from you?
Obliquely. I was right.

20) Have you ever bought a DVD forgetting you already owned it?
Yes.

21) Have you ever traded DVDs with a friend for something other than money or DVDs?
You mean like sex? No, but it might be worth a try.

22) Have you ever given a bundle of DVDs away as a gift?
Sure. All the time.

23) Have you ever received a bundle of DVDs as a gift?
Yes

24) Have you ever found a DVD in your collection unsure how it got there?
Yes. I found a copy of Closer when doing inventory which DVD Profiler didn't show me owning. I figured I had forgotten to enter it. I had actually borrowed it from my friend Alex and forgotten to return it.

25) Have you ever been cheated on a DVD purchase (eg: badly scratched, bootleg)?
Yes. Back in the days of Yahoo auctions, I bought Princess Mononoke and Saving Private Ryan, which turned out to be bootlegs made by a guy with a shrink wrapping machine. The former was later stolen by my cousin.

26) Have you ever received a DVD as a gift and returned it ASAP?
There was once a Christmas where my entire family gave each other Serenity. I returned mine and bought the SE shortly thereafter.

27) Have you ever double-dipped solely for new special features?
Yes. Even if we don't count anamorphisis, high def and new cuts as specials features, I did this with Chicago, X-Men, the entire Matrix series, Terminator 2, Buffy, the Wizard of Oz and Ghost in the Shell.

28) Have you ever watched two DVDs/movies at the same time?
Only for sake of comparison of picture quality and such.

29) Have you ever given away a movie ending just to make someone mad?
No

30) Have you ever turned subtitles on because you could not understand the words?
No, but I have a friend who always watches with subs on. It ruins a lot of joke timing.

31) Have you ever used subtitles to try and learn another language?
No. I'm pretty sure you'd be better off keeping them off if you were trying to learn a naguage.

32) Have you ever used a DVD for something other than playing it?
Do calibration discs count? I've used them as makeshift mirrors in a few cases, too.

33) Have you ever forgotten about something important because of watching a movie?
No

34) Have you ever gotten rid of a DVD only for not liking the special features/artwork?
No

35) What are your favorite movies in your collection?
Fight Club, Das Boot, A Scanner Darkly, Toy Story 2, Wall-E, This Is Spinal Tap.

36) What are your least favorites?
The Final Season (which I only own because I'm in it), Novocaine, Beer League (perhaps the worst movie I've seen)

37) What is the most you ever paid for a DVD?
I'm assuming we aren't talking about massive TV sets and collections. In that case, $39.99 for the 2005 Wizard of Oz Box, or $29.83 to import the Canadian Brotherhood of the Wolf SE if we don't count that.

38) What is the year in which you spent the most on DVDs?
DVD Profiler says I spent $11 million dollars in 2007. That's definitely caused by a typo, so I'll go with just shy of $6000 in 2003.

39) What is the longest amount of time you have watched movies without a break?
When I was unemployed, probably about 24 hours.

40) What is the largest number of DVDs you have bought at one time?
I just bought 60 on Deep Discount's 2fer sale. I don't know if that's a record.

41) What is the oldest DVD-movie in your collection by production year?
Nosferatu, from 1922. If we count special features, Bucking Broadway from 1917, which is on the Criterion Stagecoach release.

42) What is/are your favorite movie line(s)/speech(es)?

43) How many DVDs are in your collection?
1935 by the way I count

44) How many unwatched DVDs are in your collection?
I'm not not about to go through the whole collection and verify everythign I never entered watched data on, but lots. At least several hundred.

45) How many double-dips do you have in your collection (2 copies is one double dip; 3 copies is 2)?
If you don't count stuff I sold, I think 106.

46) How many TV seasons (broken down, not complete series) do you own?
Not counting dupes? 520, but there's some question as to what counts as a TV season. This number includes min-series that aired in a slot longer than four hours.

47) Using Database Query, who is the most common actor/actress in your collection?
Too many question about what counts. This is full of actors from The Simpsons, MASH and X-Files. Top is Tress MacNeille with 106.

48) ... Most common crew member?
Composer Mark Snow

49) ... Most common year of production?
2002, but TV is likely messing up this number.

50) Using Database Query, what is the SRP of your collection?
$93,028.72

Not what I had in mind when creating that question, but I love that answer.
