| Posted: | | | | Quoting Izo: Quote: Is that really all? I thought there is some code required which the developer requires from its users. The code can be compiled/generated by some application and the users, beta testers, send the code to the developer which then compiles the app with the received codes. Then the beta testers can install the app. I'm not sure about this, just something I read somewhere I don't even now where anymore. That's true. You need to send your UUID (unique to each device). There are apps that will take care of that for you. So it's true that a beta is only approved to run with particular UUIDs. But this is really getting off track. Ken has chosen not to employ beta testers for this product. At least he doesn't appear to be selecting any testers from this pool of users or they're really great about not saying anything. He's made it quite clear he intends to just release it to everyone at the same time and not do any public beta tests. There have been MANY things in my life that I just couldn't wait to get my hands on. Eventually I did get my hands on most of those items. And the rest is a distant memory. This is just another in a long list of things I've wanted to play with. The wait sucks, but by this time next year, the wait for something else will be driving me crazy. Thus I've learned to be patient. In a few months I'll have the app, the newness will be gone, it will just become another tool and all this hysteria about getting it ASAP will quickly be forgotten. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | Again, Please read my posts from the 1st one.
To Izo - If somebody said something bad to you, you would say something back too...
I never came in from post one ripping on people. I simply made a post. A Post that angered many, but some of those now realize that my intentions were good.
We all want the same thing here.
My "Tone" is that of a Humble 48 year old doing his best to take care of his two youngest children, both sadly handicapped, born 18 months apart - My Son was born with half a face...which has been corrected enough for him to look normal, but still can get infections easily, and his Sister was Born 18 months later with Severe Down Syndrome, I say severe because she will be 5 years old this April and is still barely crawling and that is with the assistance of Boston Children's Hospital so we are doing all we possibly can be doing.
I do NOT say this as a Sob Story, or to get Pity, I simply am pointing out, normally I am not a Troublemaker, it is simply in these forums sometimes people that don't know each other can push just the right Buttons...
So, Peace everyone, someday we will actually see DVD Profiler for the iPad, or I hope we will. |

| Posted: | | | | Stop whining, complaining and bitching. The reality is Invelos or Ken depending on your viewpoint is not under any requirements to release software as per your requirements.
I've been frustrated on this as well, many people have. But the reality here is that software development does not occur over night, from what i can tell Ken codes this software on his own, which means he's also had to do the iPhone app. Now coding for iPhone is EXTREMELY different to windows programming, so give the guy some time to get it right.
Cause in the end, we'd also complain is the software came out broken/half finished. |

| Posted: | | | | To bobrap - No. Funny thing is, nobody has to go through anything. That is unless somebody put a Gun to your head and made you come to these forums. Just think...in a few years none of this will matter anyway. The iPad / iPod version of DVD Profiler will be out by then. |

| Posted: | | | | Another small point I feel I have to make... A Ton of People are blaming Apple for the delays in the DVD Profiler for the iPad App? While the Beta for DVD Profiler for the PC has been a release candidate since mid November? I guess the development of that is stalled because of Apple too? No wonder it is taking so long for the iPad / iPod application. If their own internal Beta cannot reach "Official" status for weeks... Just a point. |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, the beta was supposed to be a short one (two weeks was mentioned) so that the iPhone/iPad app could be released. i haven't seen anything major reported in the beta thread bugs in a while, nothing that should stop the beta becoming official anyway, small bugs can be fixed further down the line surely?
My problem here isn't with the long development time, I'm sure Ken's doing his best and who knows what problems he's facing. My problem is with the lack of communication to us, the loyal customers! I mean c'mon, how long does it take to drop into the forums and post a quick update. Ken created the software and we're very grateful to him for that (we pay for it!) but it's us loyal members that create the content for the database (I think I've got 218 image contributions and 275 profile contributions and there'll be those of you with many more than me). It's common courtesy to let us know what's going on with a program that as well as paying for, have invested quite a bit of time and effort in.
I'm not suggesting that Ken should report on a regular basis or anything either. I'd be happy with a simple 'App is submitted to Apple' message, just so we know that it's progressing. |

| Posted: | | | | To KirkSi - Thank you for being among the 1st to really get my point! Yes, others have shown understanding finally, but you hit the nail on the head! Of course Ken wants to get this thing going and generate more income, but I get a vibe from his silence that he has hit a block or something...nothing to get angry about, but let his "Legion" know... When and if this does hit the Apple (iTunes) Store, word of mouth alone could make the Coles a pretty penny, but others are jumping on the DVD Cataloging band wagon, and while none of them can touch DVD Profiler yet, I am afraid some will, eventually. And that could affect their sales if someone else puts out a decent software 1st. If it is within their power - put it out now, I know, obviously a Fan would write that, but putting it out now as a finished product would give all of us users something to troubleshoot for future updates. I will tell you all this - there have been many releases for my iPad that force closed when run, just closed instantly with an error, and they made it into the store, and yes, they have been patched...After the initial sale. Just a Heads up, DVD Profiler for the iPad should be the real 1st iPad Application for Cataloging Collections, I feel most of you would agree. | | | Last edited: by meerupps |

| Posted: | | | | Agree with both Kirksi and Meerups here. The beta was only supposed to last two weeks and yet here we are still waiting for the product to appear. The lack of Communication also drives me mad. It would not hurt to pop in once and while and comment on the development progress, instead of keeping us all guessing as to when it will drop. At the beginning of October it was hinted that by the end of that month, the PC would be optional. Here we are now in December still waiting. Come on Ken if you are reading this, how much longer | | | Last edited: by Adrian Wright |
