Invelos have got your cash. They don't care about things like this or the highly negative impact it has on their product.

This is why Ken and Gerri won't do anything about it. They have already gotten paid, they don't need to do anything.

Kathy, I'm so sorry to see you go. Your scan updates (amongst your regular updates) are pretty fantastic and I always looked forward to dropping some stupid remark when I voted for your submission.

Others have said it so much better than I have, how much you are the voice of reason on the forums and such, but I will still chime in and say you rock. I'm glad you frequent other forums where I can still say hi.

Another fantastic poster/contributor and all around great person leaves because of the complete ignoring of Invelos and its "staff". Good job.

Getting to know you better than reading just a few posts here and there, I know just how much effort, pleasure, and passion you put into the things that you love. In the beginning of my forum experience here, I began to appraise the nature of different members: which ones are respected and which are not, which make the forum enjoyable and which hinder the day-to-day events, and which care about the forum and database and helping others over just trying to get their way all of the time.

What I quickly discovered (just over two years ago) and have continued to see is that you were and still are one of the most level-headed, helpful, and highly-respected people [who are still] around here. The majority of regulars and simi-regulars respect your opinion. They may not always agree with you (although most of the time it seems that they did and still do), but they still respect you. People that you help are appreciative, and in general your personality and insight make the forum a more enjoyable place to be.

Because of that, it is astonishing to see you of all people [left] actually reach a breaking point saying, "enough is enough." And this due to something which could be so easily fixed: user-related problems which hinder the database and forum processes as a whole that have reached a mind-blowing level only because they are not being dealt with effectively by those who should be paying the most attention (visibly showing that they are doing so) and who have the power to and should do everything necessary to fix most of these problems for the forum's -- and in turn the database's -- benefit rather than for the focused considerations of any individual.

You will be missed around here, Kathy. I am thankful, however, that I will be able to meet you at other places around the web so as not to lose your friendship.

I completely disagree, this thread gives the users of this forum an opportunity to say goodbye to a highly valued member of the community, and if they wish to, express their disgust at her treatment by certain members and the lack of response to this treatment by this company.

No, that's not what it's about. Perhaps you missed the thread in the contribution forum.

Invelos themselves asked the users to open a support ticket if it was discovered that any user was deliberately submitting incorrect or bad data to the database.

That happened, and when the support ticket was made, nothing was done about it.

That proved to be too much for Kathy, a very well liked and respected member of the community, so she let everyone know that she's not going to bother with it anymore.

It's come down to the point where Invelos has to either step up to the plate and deal with this issue, or risk losing some of its best contributers who help make their program and database what it is.

That's what this is about.

There is a user who is knowingly submitting incorrect data to the database. Could you please explain why you are defending this user? I'm genuinely confused. Because what that says to me is "I have no problem with letting this user stay and submit data." Why would you feel that way, given the facts?

You apparently are confused, as I'm not defending any party.  If the first post had contained a dozen instances of your name I would have felt the same way.

I would encourage anyone who sees deceitful contributions to open a trouble ticket to that effect, with corroborating evidence to prove the point.  If I felt the voters weren't paying attention I may also open a forum thread about the specific error in hopes of increasing the "no" votes.  What I would not do is dredge up every issue I have with said contributor and pile them on your doorstep on my way out of town.

The Skip cheerleaders will always show up to support him, just like Invelos will continue to ignore the problem.  You might as well get used to it!

This seems very sad.

I don’t really know Kathy as I haven’t been here nearly as long as many of you, but of all the people that have made comments and voted on the contributions I’ve made up to now, I would say hers were the most encouraging and helpful; exactly the sort of thing that's really nice to receive, especially if you’re new to something.  The same goes for her forum postings, which always seemed well considered and written in a tactful way; way ahead of the occasional and entirely unhelpful comments made by a small number of people who seem to take pleasure from belittling others and trying to make them appear stupid.  If the latter types of issue can make someone who’s invested so much time and effort into things decide to leave, I’d imagine the effect on newcomers is probably a lot bigger.  DVD Profiler is a generally great programme, but it’s not the only one.

Even after less than a year and around 70 forum postings, I’ve already found myself thinking sometimes that actually I don’t need to bother dealing with these peoples’ comments and I’ll go elsewhere, not contribute, or contribute without bothering to check things first via the forums if they aren’t clear to me.  It's only that in reality most people here are actually helpful and try to comment or criticise in a constructive way that makes me stay.

Paul
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

Reading a lot of the newcomers posts, the irony in all this is that Kathy is just the latest in a long string that goes back years.  Not to take anything at all away from her, but one of the reasons she stood out as so well considered is because the rest of them bailed out years ago for pretty much the same reasons.  So I guess the takeaway from all this is stick around long enough and you too can finally surrender.
