Thx alot for all the hard work, will get the database this evening after work

As no one objected, I guess it is ok, if I take over the Doctors amazing work
There is no need to send me the updates you all make, I will just grab them from here.

Oner user with a huge database, that hasn't contributed so far, pmed me and will send me his in a few days, so the work will soon start for me

cheers
Donnie

If there's any changes you'd like for me to make to the initial posts in this thread, PM me and let me know.  This is soon to be your boat to captain and you can run the ship any way you wish.

I noticed last night that I had forgotten to incorporate a late arrival - Danish Headshots first addition.dpb by Solhanne. This can also go into v7.

Thanks Dr. , you ran a great project for quite some time. Enjoy the time that will be freed up. Great job on v6, and a very good idea on splitting the db into managable parts.

Donnie, good luck on taking over!

Thanks also to everyone busy at making corrections.

I've a doubt about Tom Tammi, (photo of poor quality of an old man that I do not recognize)

Here is Tom Tammi :

... Once that's done, contribute the profile. Invelos will display a list of all invalid BY's, crew first.  Copy-n-paste the list into Notepad and then cancel the contribution.

Line-by-line in the document, highlight each name and press CTRL-C to copy it into the memory buffer. Switch over to DVDP and in the edit profile page for cast or crew, press F3 and then CTRL-V to paste the name into the search field.  This will bring up that user's entry but sometimes a name is short enough that it may filter out a few names.  Click on the correct name to highlight if not already and then click the edit button to remove the Birth Year.

First I want to thank you, too. Great and very hard work you did for us!

Why is it advised to do what you descibe above?  Isn't it enough to scroll through the cast & crew lists and compare entries with a BY with the BY topic?

There are a LOT of people with valid BY's.  Running it through Invelos filters out all of the good ones.

Thanks for this maze4real.

Having never managed to download a Torrent on my own before apologies if I sound dumb.

The file I got is a .rar rather than a .dpb. After a bit of googling it seems that this is some sort of compression/packaging (I'm familiar with zip) although by my sums the total file size is about the same as the sum of all Dr. Killpatient individual files anyway. What do I do now to turn the .rar into something I can load into DVDP.

Happy to keep seeding for a bit, it is a lot less tedious way to download than swatting all the ads that come with mediafire (I went shopping while it all happened) but I seem to have missed something vital.

Advice appreciated.

you need a program like WinRAR to unpack the RAR file. It works just a like a Zip just using differnt algorithms for the compression.

WINRAR is not freeware, and the trial expires after some time. 7-zip is an alternative freeware package which also is capable of extracting RAR files.

You can get it here.

Another good freeware program is Free RAR Extract Frog.

Me too. Even though I never use 7z format.
