| Posted: | | | | I always replace " - " with ": " in the Title field. I always append " (#-discs)" to the Title field of a UPC profile when the set has more then 1 disc. I always set SRP to the retailers original price at the time of purchase and I always set it to my currency. I always set SRP to 0 in Disc id profiles and I always set it to my currency. I always clear Case type for Disc id profiles.
I always set the Title field to; [title]: Season #: Disc #: Episode(s) #-#, for Disc id child profiles of TV series, seasons and volymes. If I made child profiles of a set (Not TV) which have more then 1 disc, I usually append ": Disc #" and then I append the Disc description to the title field. | | | Last edited: by xyrano |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting DJ Doena: Quote: I use cast & crew from IMDb, so that the linking works properly. I don't need to know how someone was credited in one particular movie as long as all his/her appearances are shoing up when I click on it. I also don't care if the credits say "Captain Kirk" or just "Kirk" as long as I know who he is supposed to be.
I also eliminate all edition texts and only use them when I have the same movie twice. And then I make it a clear disctinction (e.g. "Special Edition" vs. "Theatrical Cut" or "Japan Cut").
And I normalize all the season indicators. No "The Complete First Season" or "Season Two". For me, it's all "Season 3".
Same for me |

| Posted: | | | | Hmmmm….good idea for a thread m8. These are some of my alterations:
1. Always remove Italic text from overview window, revert back to standard text. 2. Remove accented names for easier searching. 3. Replace covers in ‘Owned’ collection with my own scanned covers. 4. Replace ‘Wish List’ covers with 3D covers (from DVD Active where available). 5. Add BY to as many actors as possible….I just like it that way!! ^^ 6. Add description 'Blu-ray' and ‘HD DVD’ to end of film title (stands out better for me in ‘View as List’ option). 7. Add as many 'Gallery' stills to Profiles I can find (when I have the patience). 8. Copy 'Goofs' and 'Trivia' data from IMDB to notes field for my favourite Profiles. 9. Change any actors without headshots to 'Coco the Clown'. 10. Change multiple database entries for Chinese actors to just one name i.e. Sammo Kam Bo Hung, merged with the other Sammo Hung credits, or Lau Chung Leung, John Lau Chung Leung, Liu Chung Liang 'ALL' to just John Liu. 11. Added custom Genre 'Asian Cinema' for Asian titles (Korean, Chinese & Japanese). 'Black Cinema' description for predominately black films (i.e. Boyz n’ the Hood etc..). Also created a sub category to Horror movies of 'Supernatural' for ghostly films!! 12. Add 'Special Features' information under 'Overview' if available (normally from DVD Empire). 13. Added Buttons 'Preview Changes', 'Preview Image Changes' and 'Refresh Image Changes' to toolbar. Allows blank fields in new titles to be updated a bit more efficiently when cast/crew/covers become available from the Invelos on-line database. 14. Changed 'Wish List' title to 'Main', 'Ordered' to 'New Profiles' (‘Staging Area’ for checking Profiles, before there added to the relevant database). Also added separate Categories (Headings) for DivX Movies, Asian Cinema and Kung Fu VHS. |

Just seen you can choose in Options -> Display if you want to show the Overview with or without formating. Maybe you want to try this to save a bit work. |

But, as I generally create my profiles from scratch, I have no extra work when not using formating. And in rare cases where I can download an overview which is something else than spoilers or advertisings, I prefer to remove this formating than having that sort of crap in my database, even if it is hidden. | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | I set the 'Count As' to the number of films (movies, episodes, shorts).
On Blu-ray/DVD combos, I change the child profile artwork to the DVD release, delete the DVD Disc ID from the parent, so the child will come up on DVD insertion, and set the count to '0' since it's the same movie. |

| Posted: | | | | I think the one big thing where I break the rules is that when an asian movie has credits in chinese, korean or japanese (which I cannot read). I go to either imdb, HK Moviedatabse or any other available source and take the credits from there.
Also if i own a re-release i use that scan for my database and not the original scan.

| Posted: | | | | The main changes I make locally are all round the fact I watch TV by seasons, however they are packaged, so I have Manual profiles for each season if that's not how they're packaged. Each season is counted as 1 and given a collection number. To match this, if my manual 'season' is made up of two half-season sets they don't get a count or a collection number and similarly if it's N seasons in a single box, the parent 'box' profile doesn't get a count or collection number either (the same as a parent box for multiple films)
Pretty much everything else is done by tags or other such local only features of the programme so are not at odds with the Rules... like using sort title to make sure seasons appear in the right order even if listing alphabetically etc. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong | | | Last edited: by Voltaire53 |
