You can't if you are sharing copyrighted pictures, echoes. That's my point an di you are tehn understand the issue and dial it back and don't be so blatant. You aren't going to go run to a cop and say Come and get me officer, i am going to go 100 MPH right now would you. Same thing here, just don't be so obvious and don't do what fraggle did and stick your finger in the laws eye.

BTW, if you can withstand the scrutiny kudos to you. I'll take you at your word, then why are defending thievery, the people who hold the copyright are legally entitled to be compensated, and sharing of images deprives them of the compensation they are entitled to.  I would think things coukld be discussed in this thread without being so blatant and obvious about it. I know that I am a minority everywhere on this, but that does not make me wrong, the law is there, I didn't write it, I only obey it. There is not safety in numbers or in borders, if you think I enjoy this guess again.

You can call me pious, or almost anything you wish it doesn't bother me, there is no excuse for breaking the law, and as I was taught as a child, ignorance of the law is no excuse. You can't feign ignorance and what I see is willful and knowingly ignoring the law, but that isn't my job. I have had people dealt with for piracy of videotapes and for stealing cable signals, so I am pretty firm in my knowledge, please people, I am begging you, just dial it back. It doesn;'t seem that big a request. Your insults directed at me are only pushing me where i don't want to go, I don't want to do something that will hurt friends, but....if I must. Can you not honor a very simple request.

The problem is that you are making assumptions, how do you know the images in the Headshots DB are copyrighted images? For all you know they could all be drawings by the various members in this thread. The only way you could know for sure is if you downloaded the file yourself, which you wouldn't do since you are concerned that it is a copyright issue, so again baseless accusations.

Another threat against users who have not done anything you have said... Neither I or Antares mentioned anything about breaking any copyright law in the manner you are describing, yet you are here threatening both of us. In addition your logic makes no sense, on one hand you are trying to ask users to be more subtle so as to not endanger Invelos or the community... then in the next sentence you threaten to make the phone call to the authorities yourself...

I have said that were I ken Cole i would have killed this thread long ago, it's very existence is prima facie evidence of Copyright violation.

Glad to see you know you are not Ken Cole... do you know you are also not a lawyer working for copyright holders, police officer, forum moderator, federal agent, or in fact in any way in a position of authority here?

The suggestion of banning you comes from your repeated threats and attacks on other users, your hijacking of this thread, and your vague threats against Invelos itself.

Since you asked a perfectly reasonable question, I will give you an answer. MOST...not all pictures of celebrity types are copyrighted by somebody. I suspect the reason for this is that they would not want to seetheir picture get published in some newspaper somewhere without getting paid. I assume nothing, I don't look. I let the people who are authorized to investigate such things make that determination. I am willing to make you a bet however. I know how big my own local picture collection is and I am willing to bet that the HDB is at least that big. Remember i eplained the law and how it works, 5 years and/or $250,000 per occurence. Iwill bet that there is at least ONE copyrighted image in that Db, and probably a whole lot more. Let's say there are 500 occurences, I would bet even more, but we'll stay with 500, you dio the math.

Is this any different from what Bernie Madoff and we know where he is and for how long.

I was going to try to respond to that... but I can't... there is no debating someone who is in your frame of mind - I am resigning myself from this conversation as I have a date with a attractive blond back in reality in about two hours... I have notified Invelos of the great need for moderation in this thread... i hope the rest of you can get back to a civil conversation soon enough.

As I said before you are assuming they are images, like I said they could be drawing from members in this thread, without downloading the DB yourself, then you are doing nothing but making baseless accusations, and no you didn't answer my question, I will word it differently, how do you know that the DB actually contains images at all ?, as I said above it could be drawings.

And as I said Echoes, my conclusions are drawn from the comments. If i must I will let those with that kind of ability to investigate and make determinations. Being a citizen I don't think i can actually investigate without potentially violating the law myself and i won't do that.

There is enough in this thread that allows one to draw conclusions, including out andcomments about not caring about legal issues.

Thank you skip for admitting that you are doing nothing but assuming that everyone here is infringing on copyrights. I applaud that, I do. You should however never accuse people of things unless you have 100 % proof, and you do not, all you have are assumptions. And remember the old saying "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

Woah! Didn't follow some days and I am shocked...

Let's make one thing clear: I do NOT support any form of piracy. I have 1'200 DVDs, all bought and paid.
It just makes no sense to me -not- to use headshots (that are available through search engines) in my private installation of my collection software. This has nothing to do with piracy. Maybe legal issues (therefor Invelos will never include a headshot DB within the software, agreed), but I make no money with the software and I just have fun collection DVDs... So what is the problem in using headshots of the actors?

The housewife you mentioned did download music files, didn't she? That is another story...

Anyway, back to topic and let's keep the good work on the master database.
And peace to everyone :-)

Are you sure your avatar pic is not copyrighted? Some judge might even rule that using a pic of Walt Disney is a case of "stealing identity".

And as a concerned citizen we also should ban "Ken Cole" for his own good before someone sues him for using a copyrighted pic from BSG as his avatar.

Oh, forgot to mention, I hand myself over to justice for using the "Wolfsheim" avatar...

OMG, after a nice sleep, this thread is being hijacked more
The only way to make this thread what it was is simply not to respond anymore to Skips posts here (sorry to say that Skip, but this is the only way to stop you from posting here).

My very last words on this matter are the following:
What an individual does is NOT your concern Skip.
IF I would smoke weed, NOT your concern!
IF I would steal a paper from my neighbor, NOT your concern!
IF I would copy a copyrighted disk for my friend, NOT your concern.

I could lengthen this list by miles, also to avoid any misunderstandings, I am NOT doing those things, hence the IF

We are sharing headshots here amongst 100-200 people, and we WILL continue this, if you like it or not, face it!
This here is Ken's place and NOT yours and as this thread exists for ages, he has nothing against it.
We got your opinion but we do not care about it, you have to accept this.

I will not respond to anything about this anymore here in this thread, if you like to discuss this further feel free to PM me

Now I will add all the new beautiful headshots to my Profiler

cheers
Donnie

First of all, mad thanks to everyone who have updated the headshot database. You guys rock! Downloading the DB as we speak ...

As for the rest, I find it amusing there's this whole discussion about the legality started by someone who does the exact same thing: namely using a pciture to which he owns no right as his avatar. Just do like me and forum-block Skip. I still see some of his messages when you guys quote him, but aside from that, this forum is a much friendlier place with his messages filtered out

Besides, I think the copyright association has other, more pressing, concerns than the use of some pictures, judging by how rampant piracy in general is. At least the users here buy their movies.

Back on topic: thanks for the update. I'm still updating the Japanese cast headshots but when it's done, I'll make sure to share it as well as a seperate update.
