I think it is safe to say that those who pull the Star Trek strings (Paramount) decided that JJ Abrams' fresh new take on the franchise would revitalize what was clearly becoming a stale franchise!!!  The last movie was a bomb and the most recent television series, Star Trek: Enterprise (which I enjoyed somewhat) was a ratings disaster!!!

I wouldn't hold your breath for any Voyager or other old franchise Star Trek projects!!!

Enterprise was a bomb (however I liked it) why did they make this movie? Clearly no one cares about the start of StarTrek or Enterprise would not have been cancel.

Talking about Enterprise I have been lost what was #2 (Riker) role in the end of Enterprise series? The last show I didn't understand.

The last show didn't happen during the timeline of the series - it was a recreation of some of the events of the ship & crew after the TV series timeline recreated on the holodeck of the Enterprise D.

Saw it last night. Awesome. Now I have to upgrade my speakers again. They're good, but still there's nothing like the theater ...

Question, I missed the IMAX shows unfortunately in my area as the last showings are today and I planned to see it over the holiday weekend.  I'm now presented with another interesting decision.  The theater is showing it on three screens, one of which uses a digital projection system (DLP), apparently the wave of the future for a lot of films to come.

I called to solicit an opinion from someone working there and they think the DLP approach is decidedly better, but their supporting reasons sounded more like uninformed hype.

I remember seeing Star Trek's "Menagerie" at this theater a year or so ago in a limited engagement and I believe that was digitally projected. It was rather underwhelming and yes, I do realize that was a 45 yr old TV series pilot.

Has anyone here have more light to shed on this issue and whether I should opt for film or digital projection to see the new Star Trek?
