Quote: Yes! GB's forst medal. Silver in the woman's cycling road race. What an end. The Dutch woman just clinched it and the Russian deserved the Bronze. Any chance for some spoiler tags when reporting results? This is the event I am currently watching...because we are 8 hours behind you guys...or do I just have to avoid this thread? Really sorry, mate! I'll try and remember next time. I had no idea people might not be watching this live. With me, it's like this that I either watch live or I don't watch at all. Watching sports at a later time just doesn't cut it with me. Then again... if I were watching something at a later time and I didn't know the outcome, I would indeed avoid threads like these. But that's just me, I guess. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

The international footage is an optical feast, well done Your Majesty, Your Majesties, Your Royal Highnesses. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. I would guess that most of the people on this side of the Atlantic...at least those with regular daytime jobs...are watching the Olympics on tape delay. Quote: With me, it's like this that I either watch live or I don't watch at all. Watching sports at a later time just doesn't cut it with me. While I could watch them all live, on-line, 8 a.m. London time is 12 midnight for me. I don't know about anybody else, but I can't go the entire Olympic run without sleep and just not watching, because I can't watch them live, just doesn't make any sense. If I did that, I would never watch the Olympics as most of the events take place during the day when I am at work. Quote: Then again... if I were watching something at a later time and I didn't know the outcome, I would indeed avoid threads like these. But that's just me, I guess. If I knew that quite a few users of this forum were between 5 to 8 hours behind me, I would, just as a common courtesy, use spoiler tags so as not to run the risk of ruining things for them. It's not like it takes a lot of effort to add them. But that's just me, I guess. Anyway, lesson learned. I will simply avoid this thread. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. | Posted: | | | | Last time around, in Beijing, we in Europe had a similar time difference. So I chose which competitions I really, really cared about, and planned to watch those live, and which ones I could be satisfied watching highlights while knowing the results. If that meant watching in the middle of the night - well, that would be my own choice. Question of priorities.
Perhaps I should add that over here we don't do these integral tape delays. |

| Posted: | | | | IMO, if it was a movie we were talking about, I would wholly agree with needing spoilers, but when talking about live sporting events? It's a bit much.
If I was going to catch a repeat showing or on-demand catch-up of a sporting event, I would avoid the relevant threads/news feeds/etc etc. |

| Posted: | | | | ... and the BBC has a BBC Olympics Android app which streams live coverage of the various events, though you better be in a Wi-Fi zone or have a lot of download allowance on your contract! FWIW I agree with spoiler tags for at least 24 hrs... even in the UK lots of us will be at work and unable to watch live so will be catching up when we get home... and I agree with an earlier post about the bbC's coverage; it really is stunning (though it would help if the commentators had some control over the camera angles at times) having upto 24 channels of live HD feeds! Had a great weekend watching lots of sports that usually don't get any coverage at all but are presently getting full HD coverage of the whole event | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

And wasn't last night's catching up of the Yanks by the French in the 4 x 100 meters free-style just epic! Yeah. I think the Aussies and Yanks concentrate too much on their own rivalry, especially after Australia embarrassed them with their air guitar playing previously. Always good to see someone win who isn't the favourite, no matter which country, or which sport. I would love to see someone beat the Americans in basketball, or the Chinese in archery etc etc. Makes it thrilling. Well, don't watch table tennis in general, but watched Brit Dinkhall win the other day. He is ranked 107th in the world and beat the 58th Singapore guy. He is just about to face a German ranked 12th in the world, so whilst we expect a loss, I hope he does well. |

| Posted: | | | | Come on Zoe Smith. 58kg woman's weightlifting and although no chance of a medal, she just got the British record of 121kg in the clean and jerk! Great stuff. Only 18 years old so got some years in her yet to improve on that. That's over twice her own weight! |

Good evening, just watched yesterday's events again, it was great how Agnel defeated Lochte, payback for Beijing 2008. "What a clutch.
