106 cast, mainly new with 2-3 possible improvements. Several are fuzzy on larger scale but look fine in normal smaller thumbnails on Profiler and were the only ones I could find.

HTH. Any progress on more Asian ones from yourself? I find them the hardest to find and then even harder to confirm it's the right person.

Bit of a snag - got to PR when I received a data stream error during the merge process which aborted the whole thing.  I rebuilt the updated headshot database compromised of the initial 48 contributed databases and finished out the P's.

K-P processed, + 21 MB.

Thanks for the hard work Dr.

I'm currently holding off in posting more updates. I'll start contributing again after v5 is released.

If we keep adding you'll never get through

I also have around 50-60 new headshots, but since I have 3.6 Beta I can't share them.

And just a small warning: When importing a headshot file from 3.5 to a 3.6 installation, it just overwrites existing headshots, even when you have selected "let me compare"!

Error is already mentioned in the "Beta bugs"-thread.

So all Beta-users should wait until this is fixed before they import any updates!

Good news is that Ken said that he has resolved all reported bugs (as of a couple weeks ago when he said it).

My next update should have the entire cast list completed - most of the updates were M and below.  Then it's to the crew and then importing the databases after the "cutoff".  Then BY's.

ETA: Please submit any additions here.  I'll only be processing files uploaded to it.

As a general FYI, I've been pretty relaxed towards the headshots with v5 since we've switched to the smaller update packages.  Since I know that any headshot I review is an update and not possibly a headshot from an older version, I'm more inclined to accept.  This makes it more of of a community database and not just what I deem more suitable.

My current logic:
1. If one photo is of the actress or actor and they're older than the other photo, the older one gets accepted.  This is my one main rule since there has to be some kind of impartial rule since everyone has different tastes concerning their headshots.
2. If both photos has the person near the same age and both are suitable headshots but the new one is a screen cap of the person in costume and the existing is not, existing photo is picked.
3. If both photos are not in costume and are suitable headshots, the submitted photo is accepted 99% of the time.
4. If both are in costume, the photo that fits the general headshot best is picked.

I've decided that I will accept FULL headshot databases but I will not perform a comparison on it - all existing headshots will be preserved and only new headshots will be imported.

Cast Q-Z processed, +19 MB

Cast is done in the initial batch of 48 contributed databases, processing the crew should go a lot faster since there's far fewer of them.

With all due respect, but that makes no sense at all. Usually actors have their prime in their 20s-40s. A LOT of them do get some kind of role afterwards, even well into their 70s or so. This means you're forcing yourself to replace all pics with ones from a time where people probably haven't even seen a movie with them. It means we get a Harrison Ford with the earring, a Sylvester Stalone with balloon face, Elizabeth Taylor fallen into a can of paint etc etc. Why would you possibly want this?

If you need a strict rule like that, why not make it the opposite: Take the photo when they are youngest (but adult). That way you're more likely hitting the picture one has in mind when thinking of that person.

I don't think any such strict rule is necessary though, at least not for "known" actors. I'm pretty sure a vast majority would agree with chosing the earlier photos in the examples above and I'm also pretty sure you'd have intuitively chosen them too.

It's really a matter of opinion of when someone is in their "Prime" which never has been the goal of the HSMD and choosing the older one is more likely to represent them currently.  There's no guarantee that I'll know when someone is in their prime and there is no guarantee that someone won't submit their personal favorite headshot over the "Prime" photo.

It removes most subjectivity from the equation.

But the nice thing about this collection is that you don't have to accept any headshot you don't want to accept and you can replace any you don't like with one you do.

Hence my proposal of using the youngest shot. It's still a fixed rule BUT will hit the image people have of that person far more often. I think you're thinking too much in term of current actors, for which your rule works quite well. Start thinking about long deceased ones and you'll get what the problem is. Just chose any random 10 well known stars of the classic Hollywood era and take a look at what kind of pic you'll force yourself to use. I really don't want to contribute a headshot set to prove my point. Just wait until someone actually does that, submitting hundreds of headshots of classic actors in their 70s or 60s. I'd be really interested in seeing how long you'd hold up your rule then...

I see your point but the main problem is that I have no way of knowing which is which.

Processed means that I've merged it in.  Nothing has been released yet.

Giving that with the cast making v5 433 mb in size and there's still the crew to process plus the other submitted additions, v5 will be broken up into equal sized chunks to ease in the downloading and merger.
