Hopefully the UPCs remain unique.
On a related note, how do you catch a unique rabbit? You 'neak up on it! How do you catch a tame rabbit? The tame way! Sweet. Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze just got approved! Here's the "April Fools" (no joke) rabbit, born the other day with two noses: | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

| Posted: | | | | I've been on vacation since my discs arrived here at home. I ordered "Payment on Demand" (1951, Bette Davis) and "Oxford Blues" (1984, Rob Lowe ). "Oxford Blues" is indeed 16x9 enhanced. On my laptop using Power DVD, I have significant combing problems that make the films (both of them) unwatchable. On my HD DVD player, upconverted, they both look great. It must be something about my computer that isn't working with them. But I'm pleased with the 16x9. And I'm thrilled to be able to get another Bette Davis film to slide onto the shelf. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | The combing problem is due to the fact that these are interlaced instead of progressive compressions. Different playback equipment will deal with the interlacing in different ways. For god knows what reason, the company they're using to actually do the compression seems to have been pulled from the wayback machine. A lot of the compression issues from around '99 are being reported on these disks. |

| Posted: | | | | I have no problems playing The D.I. on any DVD player I own -- the Daiwoo all region, all format, the Pioneer 1080 upconverting one, the Sylvania Blu-ray, either of the portables, the DVD drive in the PC, the Mac or the notebook. Looks nice everywhere I've tried.
It's still Jack Webb being Jack Webb (was the man incapable of moving his arms when he walked, or does the rest of the world walk funny?), but the DVD plays for me. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Funny thing is that Webb was perfectly willing and able to play antiauthoritarian roles as well. On a couple of his radio shows in which he played relative low-lifes, he was regularly beat up by corrupt cops (in particular by a cop played by Raymond Burr, if memory serves). I haven't yet watched Pete Kelly's Blues, but I imagine his arms get a bit more motion in that one. |
