There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. | Posted: | | | | How close are we to a release?
If you are looking for beta testers, I have an iPhone, iPod Touch, and an iPad I would be willing to use. I would love to test it and give some initial feedback.
Also, if you have a formal test plan for beta (or alpha) testers, I would be more than happy to complete and return to you.
Thanks,

But, if it'll speed up release I'll settle for something similar to the current Mobile version. Add DVDs, watched events, Movie Pick etc. | | | Last edited: by MarEll |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting joecan: Quote: I'm super excited for this, and I hope I'm not too late for suggestions:
- The biggest hope I have is that any syncing that needs to take place can be done via WiFi with the DVD Profiler desktop programs or over the internet via our online collections. I just hope that iTunes doesn't enter the equation here, because there's a lot of us that sync our iPhones, iPod Touchs, and iPads solely with a Mac.
- Some ability to use the iPhone's camera as a bar code scanner. I realize this feature would leave out iPod Touc & iPad users, but we'll eventually see camera(s) in those devices (probably within the next year).
- The ability to leverage the iPhone's Contact list for dealing with DVD loans. I know 3rd party apps can take advantage of the contacts stored on the device, and it would be great if we set up loans, time tables, AND email reminders directly from the device. Click a DVD, select loan, it'll ask you if the person is in your contact list, if so you pick the name and an email address and BAM, everything is done.
- I'm not sure how much of each DVD's data will be stored on this mobile program but I'd love some advanced search capability for title, genres, actors, crew, etc. I'd love on-the-fly filtering within search.
- Some have suggested coverflow, but I prefer the full screen cover swipe the mobile app has now. Maybe both? Coverflow would look better on the bigger iPad, but I'd prefer the former on the smaller screed iPhone.
- DVD Pick, Watched By, Review Scores, Price, Purchase Place (and creating new purchase places) etc. should all be accessible and editable on device. We're much more likely to have these devices with us while watching something than the desktop or laptop DVD Profiler is installed on.
- Someone suggested a work offline mode. I doubt very much that using this will require a internet connection for simply browsing your collection, but just in case... I REALLY WANT a work offline mode. This ! I use MAC only now (moved over last September and I don't miss those BSODs!) and only use an XP vm for DVDProfiler. I also have an iPhone/3G (no 3GS, waiting on the new one) and iPad just ITCHING to be beta testers ! I can also upload any version firmware or iPhone OS for testing. (these are just spare phones) |

| Posted: | | | | Very much looking forward to the release of this software for iPhone......I was only out today looking to buy a PDA in order to take my database with me when shopping for movies.
All I am really looking for in the release is to be able to swap between my different databases (blu-ray, blu-ray tv series, hd-dvd's, psp umd's, dvd movies and dvd tv series) so check what I have in my collection. |

| Posted: | | | | I guess it is possible that this will be released following the iOS 4.0 release. I was hoping Steve Jobs would announce this app for iPhone as a selling point when he announced iPhone 4.
Now that there are updates to the iPhone, an additional feature request would be: 1. High resolution cover images. 2. Use the front facing camera to take a picture of the huge smile on my face while I use the rear camera to scan the barcode of the new Blu-ray I am purchasing! Just kidding.
Anxiously awaiting the release of this application... |

| Posted: | | | | Is this going to work on the original 2G iphones too? Please... Scanning the bar code with the iphone camera? Is this in the app? Movie Collector in the iphone app store uses this feature along with manual input.
Hope this is going to kick a$$! |

Quote: My vote goes for;
v1.0 - Keep It Basic & Release it Quickly + Database + Covers + Filtering (personally want to be able to search by running time) + Personalisation (watched by, etc.) + Sync back to website
v1.1 (or later) - Nice Extra at a later date + Barcode scanning to add to purchased or wishlist. (if not easy I would be happy to continue using Red Laser (scan items, send to self as email, barcode UPCs are attached in text file) as long as I could copy and paste multiple barcodes into add DVD option.) + Add DVD option. + The best features suggested by the everyone else.
I'd be happy to buy now with basic features, knowing that improvements will come later.
Same for me. I vote +1

Me three!!! Me too...me too!! Count me in for all of the above..!! I cannot wait for this app!! How many more sleeps?? |
