So I too wouldn't notice any changes unless they were pointed out. That and I'm not a Star Wars person. I think I've seen the first one 3-4 including that time in 1977. | | Posted: | | | | Cinema in Portsmouth (or may have been Southampton), a couple of weeks after it opened, sitting in the middle of a row towards the back. With surround(ish) sound (well, there were lots of speakers anyway).
And the bit I remember the most was the opening when the battleship "flew overhead" with the all-around rumble of the engines. Oh, man!!! | | | | Chris |

I don't know about my memories of 1977, but my first memories of Star Wars are of reading about it in issues of Starlog magazine in late 1976 and early 1977. Seeing those Ralph McQuarrie paintings really got me excited about seeing the film. --------------- |

If you didn't see it/ experience it like that.. you had to wait quite a few months/years for your local cinema to upgrade .. or see it on Video in letterbox ( widescreen/ surround ) years later .....  and I read in one of my links above that Lucas bought up as many VistaVision cameras as he could which drove the price up for others who wanted to buy that type of camera .. (Didn't Hitchcock use Vista Vision cameras which gave the foreground and the Background 'total clarity'.. Confused though as I thought VistaVision only gave out 1:66 to 1:85 aspect ratio and not 2:35.. ? maybe in Post they were able to upgrade these frames ... ??? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird.
