Can't believe I missed this when it originallly came out. For anyone that hasn't seen it, put it on your "to do" list. Definitely warrants repeat viewing. Thanks for reminding me about this one; I just ordered it. |

Quote: Deep Blue Sea
3.8/5 (if you're in to shark-attack-action-shockers, you should give it a try, the cgi is outdated, but there's also a lot of real water and great animatronics, nicely shot, and this movie means business; additionally I think the B-rD transfer looked really good).
My wife likes the movie very much, so I think I have to think about an upgrade to blue. I would think the CGI in Deep Blue Sea would look incredibly fake on BluRay, since the image would be so good. It is already a bit dodgy on DVD, but passable (thinking of the scene where Jackson buys it) only because there is a blurring on a lower quality 480p image. I would think watching this on real 1080p would make it laughable, which is a shame because it is an enjoyable monster movie. R. |

2.7/5 (your every-day mysterious-person-slashes-teens-in-an-abandoned-property-without-mobile-phone-reception movie, lame first half, solid second, but solid isn't enough, B-rD picture quality mediocre, I might add, as usual) | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. I watched Cold Prey early this morning, and 2.7 in a range from 0 to 5 isn't low, it's above the middle. I've also seen THX 1138 lately, kahless motivated me, and I think it's a strong piece of cinema, it looks, and feels, topic-wise, like a contemporary production, although almost 40 years old, my only complain is that the Star Wars guy did not only remaster but also manipulated the movie by adding CGI. Or Godzilla: Final Wars, flawless from beginning to end, 5 of 5 points, I always knew that the japanese Gojira was stronger than the american Godzilla, at least in his toy towns. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. This is great movie, but it's not one that leaves you feeling good after you've watched it. You are left feeling haunted as Jon Voight's character is. Unable to escape the nightmare of what he and his friends endured on that river; powerful stuff.

And structures, workers, elements, backgrounds, lizard wings, rat replaced by a rendered scorpion, the pleasure device, THX racing through traffic, the new rapid transit system station... changesI would have liked to see the original movie. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played.
