Robin Hood: Men in Tights is always a fun one. Can't go wrong with Mel Brooks! And after all, he's the Robin Hood with a real English accent!

hmmm... 2 suggestions and I never seen neither. I think I will go with Robin Hood: Men in Tights... just because I feel more in the mood for something in the Mel Brooks style.

Title: Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Year: 1993
Director: Mel Brooks
Rating: PG-13
Length: 104 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, French: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, Spanish: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround
Subtitles: English, Spanish

Stars:
Cary Elwes
Richard Lewis
Roger Rees
Amy Yasbeck
Mark Blankfield
Dave Chappelle

Plot:
Mel Brooks scores a bull's-eye with this hysterical reinvention of the Robin Hood fable! In days of olde, when men were men, men wore tights. And none wore tights mightier–or tighter–than Robin Hood! Aided by his band of merry men, Robin of Loxley wrested power from the evil Prince John, brought humiliation upon the despicable Sheriff of Rottingham and found the key to the fair Maid Marian's heart–and her chastity belt. Starring Cary Elwes as the dashing defender of the downtrodden, the hilarious supporting cast includes Tracey Ullman as the sorceress Latrine, Richard Lewis as Prince John, Dom DeLuise as mob boss Don Giovanni and Mel Brooks himself as Rabbi Tuckman.

Extras:
Scene Access
Feature Trailers
Bonus Trailers
Featurettes
Closed Captioned

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I ever seen this movie. But I wasn't concerned a bit going in as I always have enjoyed the Mel Brooks movies I have seen... as I like his silly style of spoofing, And I enjoyed this one as well... but it won't be one of my favorites of his. I think the main problem I had with this one was there were (IMO) too many music scenes. I think it would have been much better without them. I know there is many people out there that don't like this type of movie... and I admit it is not for everyone... so I can't say I straight out recommend it. But if you like the work of Mel Brooks I definitely think you should give it a go.

My Rating: 3.5/5

Title: Junior
Year: 1994
Director: Ivan Reitman
Rating: PG-13
Length: 110 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo
Subtitles: English

Emma Thompson
Frank Langella
Pamela Reed
Judy Collins

Plot:
A male doctor (Arnold Schwarzenegger) becomes pregnant after his associate (Danny DeVito) talks him into taking an experimental drug.

Extras:
Feature Trailers
Featurettes

My Thoughts:
Even though this is a (lets admit it) a stupid idea for a movie. It definitely has it's moments... and is really an entertaining movie. I think that is on the strengths of the stars. Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger make a great team. The way Arnold portrayed a man being feminine and going through the physical and emotional symptoms of pregnancy definitely had a few laughs. Though over-all I wouldn't call this one a favorite. And I personally think that DeVito & Schwarzeneggar were better together in the movie Twins.  But this one is still enjoyable anyway.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie I have never seen before today. But I have been hearing how good it is for years. So been wanting to see it for some time now. I just hope I am not going into this one with too high of expectations. Before putting the movie in I watched the trailer in profiler... which made me want to see the movie even more. Then I glanced at the cast list to see if there was any other big names in it besides Kathy Bates and Jennifer Jason Lee. And I was a bit surprised to see the name Ellen Muth as a Young Selena (Jennifer Jason Lee's Character). For those of you that don't know or remember... Ellen Muth starred in the series Dead Like Me as George Lass... the recently dead girl turned reaper. This is the first thing other then Dead Like Me that I had the chance to see her in.

This movie was quick to grab... and keep my attention. Until the opening credits showed it... I completely forgot that this movie was based on a Stephen King novel. But I shouldn't be surprised as much as I enjoyed it... as I have always enjoyed all of the movies and miniseries I have seen based off his work.  I thought that the entire cast did a wonderful job on this one. I also liked the way they told the story... bringing out what they needed to as they needed to do so. Superbly using flashbacks. And that is coming from someone that don't usually like flashbacks in movies. But when done right they can really help to advance the story. And they were definitely done right here. This turned out to be a great movie to start the day off with. If you are like me... and never gotten the chance to watch this movie... I highly recommend it!

Fly Away Home is a cute kids one (with Anna Paquin if I'm thinking of the right movie). You may want to watch with your daughter. I just recently rewatched and enjoyed it. It's not the fastest moving movie, but the last 20-30 minutes are my favorite.

Thanks Lori...
I will have to see if I can talk it into her. She is her daddy's girl... she thinks more about horror movies and superhero movies then the cute Disney type movies.

Why can't a girl like both? I did! Well, not horror, but I love action/adventure. My dad got me into Star Trek/Star Wars by the time I was 6. My (much) older sibs decided that it was ok for me to watch horror when I was that age too, so I got a bit too freaked out and don't like it now. I like the campy horror (love Bruce Campbell) but not the real stuff.

I wouldn't say Fly Away Home is saccharine sweet. It is based on a true story and it's kind of fun to know that and at the end they update the real life stuff. They do focus on the father/daughter relationship. The mother had custody until they were in a car accident and after the dad started raising the girl who is...resistant to that idea. They eventually find a common ground (the geese) and work together to get the geese flying and migrating.

So, I'd say cute, but not necessarily saccharine.

LoL. Good luck!

If you get a chance and haven't watched, try Bubba Ho-tep or Sundown: The Vampire In Retreat. Both Bruce Campbell movies so both funny horror. Sundown has David Carradine in it, who is another of my favorite actors. I think if she's watching Evil Dead II, she might enjoy those as well...and maybe you might as well! (I see you have Bubba Ho-tep, have you seen yet? Watched with my mother who is a huge Elvis fan and it was a fun time. lol!)

Yup... I have watched Bubba Ho-Tep a couple of times since I bought it. Yesterday she watched all 3 of the Evil Dead movies with her uncle. I will have to mention Bubba Ho-Tep to her. And will have to keep an eye out for Sundown: The Vampire In Retreat.

I tried convincing Britt (my daughter) to watch Fly Away Home with me... but she completely refuses.  I guess no horror and no superheroes so she don't even want to give it a try.

Watch it anyway.  It's a darn good movie, IMHO.  I don't have kids but i like the film.

Of course horror does nothing for me at all so we may not have matching tastes at all. Your Mileage May Vary
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!
