Skip was retired and had been for some time. His retirement nest egg apparently disappeared. Could be any number of reasons for that to happen:
1. Bad Investments 2. Embezzlement 3. Catastrophic Medical Bills 4. Family financial crisis 5. Lawsuit
or any number of others. I have no personal knowledge, BTW. It happens. About 5 years ago, my father lost over $110,000 in retirement savings invested in a company that he worked at for over 30 years. Bank of America called in their loan (even though they never once missed a payment), so they were forced to shut down and liquidate, and of course there was no money left. About 100+ people lost their life savings. | | | Corey |

Are all the Major Blockbuster and whatever else still up and running in your area or neighborhood??..
if not let us know.. why is this.. ? Can't be streaming videos as I have now had 3 members here saying likewise... All the Blockbusters/Hollywood Video stores have closed in my area...not that it matters to me as I rarely used tham anyway. If I want to watch a film, I buy it. I just started using Netflix, last month, but only to watch ST: Voyager. I have never had the desire to stream a movie. I am completely with you their, streaming is destroying my hobby. I used netflix for the first time the other day, and I was completely underwelmed. My collection is so much better. |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe he lost interest in collecting for a while. I know when this happened to me I had to avoid things that made meant to buy movies. I had to sell part of my collection once, and I was devastated. I took a one time of from collecting. I event eventually recaptured every single thing I sold (in the hundreds). If this is the case with Skip he will return. He was the very first person I alkyd to on here, he is an awesome guy, with an admirable collection and knowledge base. I hope to see you back Skip. |

| Posted: | | | | As to Skip's situation, their are millions like him; and most can't even find work. The unemployment numbers only count those individuals collecting benefits. Most have dropped off the radar. Why did government change that accounting to only those on benefits, cause the truth hurts. This quote was translated into English from an article appearing in the Czech Republic as published in the Prager Zeitung of 28 April 2011. "The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the Presidency. It wil be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of Idiots such as those who made him their president." While the populous argues about liberal vs. conservative...demarcate vs. republican, etc. they, the politicians (judges included) sell out to the five large international banks and the large corporations they control with money, etc.with no interest in human plight,it is not political just plain old fashion greed and evil. Half our military budget could feed the world, but these five banking families keep the world in turmoil because they can make more money in one day when the world is at war than one year at pace. As I mentioned before watch Thrive or you buy the DVD at at any retainer. Check out their references. This is just one site. After all it is all about control. You can't spend all their money on personal needs or wants, but you sure can make people dance to your tune and do you bidding. All Skip wanted was for DVD Profile users to follow the contribution rules. If you don't like the rules or the features of program, there is a place to say so. As far as the contribution rules go, way back when I was invited to contribute but I decided not to get involved, so I figure I don't have bitch. If I had done the rules, they would have been in outline form: 1. 1.1 . . 1.2 . 2. 2.2 etc. and Movies and TV would separate The reasoning is that when one wants to quote a rule instead quote the rule you could reference it by number. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. | Posted: | | | | From what I've read, the unemployment numbers are based on who collected benefits. If you never collected, you're not counted. |

| Posted: | | | | I was under the impression from what Skip told me a couple of years ago, that he was a multi millionaire. And rather thrifty with his money to.
So something really bad must of happen, if he has as he said. Been forced into working two jobs. |

| Posted: | | | | Obviously it's too late now, but, if you get lucky and make wealth from stocks, you should always try to preserve that wealth and diversify... if you are over 55, you should put at least half in fixed so you don't risk it all if the stock market takes a dive, and it will take a dive, it always does. Sometimes severely.
Did you have an investment advisor or financial consultant? ("Investment advisor" is an important designation as it requires SEC certification; if it's called anything else, it doesn't. That's not to say there are not any bad investment advisors.)
