| Posted: | | | | Some notes on using this master backup file: 1. After you have restored cast and crew from the file, you propably have several thousands un-assigned (actors not appearing in any of your DVDs) names in your local cast and crew member databases. There are also several faulty entries too (eg. actor name field used as a divider).
2. You can get rid of all faulty and un-assigned entries by doing a full database repair. Do not get oppressed when the database repair report tells you that eg. 27000 names were deleted.
3. After you have added new DVDs (and new names) to your collection, you can redo the restore process in order to find out if there are headshots for those new names in this master file. However, this time select the option to keep all existing images to fasten the process. Again, make a full database repair to get rid of all un-assigned and faulty entries. |

| Posted: | | | | Great work. Some nice additions to my collection. I thought (can't be sure) that I noticed that James Fox has a photo of Edward Fox.
BTW, Are all of the Birth Years that have been added gone through the contribution process or did we have someone with an enthusiasm for them contribute headshots? |

| Posted: | | | | You mean I have to stay at work and can't go home to do this now.. But all the good headshots might get used up.. For anyone that is worried about the headshots being too risque, create a copy of your database and then restore these headshots into the copy. Then you can (if neccessary) remove the copy and you won't have any of the new headshots. I've done that with a couple of previous uploaded backup just to see what the pictures sort of look like before restoring them into my main db. | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | Down loaded the file earlier...Great work everybody involved.
Couple of points 1. Maggie Gyllenhael not too sure if thats the right headshot...doesn't look like her. 2. Richard Roxburgh plastic surgury to look like Sean Bean?
Apart from those two looks o.k.
Have found some of the pics I have are better quality perhaps I can resend for a re-evaluation Juoquim? Will let things settle first other users might find the same.

When restoring is there a way to set the 'Options - Actual Size' as default? |

When restoring is there a way to set the 'Options - Actual Size' as default? None that I have found. I found the best way to go through these was to compare in stretch to fit, pick the better looking pic. If both the same then opt for Actual Size to compare in the different sizes / quality. Steve edit for typo. | | | Last edited: by snarbo |

One rather peculiar picture is that for Timothy Bottoms. Either he is made up for a particular role, or this is an extreme example for Credited As. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | Seems to be correct, but then to pick an actor in such a peculiar role... Rather like using a picture of an actor/actress as a child, even after decades on the screen. That's a personal taste of course, but I guess most people would want an immediately recognizable picture, and not e.g. someone in a mask. And we definitely wouldn't want to give the other guy credit for anything | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | Those of you installing this that also submit contribtions will want to be very careful regarding the birth years. Really, they should all be removed from the master file except the ones that have been accepted through discussion and other profile contributions. I haven't downloaded this myself so I don't how big of a problem this might be.
Is there a list of the "officially" accepted birth years that can be used to remove the bogus ones? I can't imagine there being too many. Colin Farrell (1938) and (1976) is the only official one I'm aware but I'm sure there's others. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |
