In fact it's believed to be the hottest Temperature recorded in any Capital City in Australia! Tomorrow is forecast for 24 Degrees; what a relief.  The sad aftermath of these extreme temperatures: "The death toll from Victoria's bushfires has risen to 36 and police have now confirmed 640 homes have been lost." More here. |

The bushfires of January 13 1939, known as the ‘Black Friday’ fires caused; in Victoria; an area of almost 2 million hectares to be burnt, with 71 people losing their lives. These systems are designed to burn, but if they burn regularly the fires are far less extreme (and if done during the cooler periods they used to pre-European settlement, they burn out themselves).
