| Posted: | | | | OK, my 16-year old art-student (when she's not being maths-nerd) daughter announced over dinner, that she thinks it would be a good idea to art-brush our double-garage door....which is currently a tasteful "old fogey" shade of brown. She favours a gothic-biblical theme: lots of angels/ demons etc..... She's quite talented, so we'd get an artistic work (whatever artistic means ) So do I say: 1. Not on your life, I like my brown door..... 2. No, it will upset the neighbours on our terribly middle class estate and they will wreak a terrible revenge (hey, I've seen that X Files episode!!!) 3. Yes....it'll upset the neighbours....and they deserve it! Discuss | | | Chris | | | Last edited: by Mole |

And I'd love to see it when she's done. |

You can always paint it over if it's inappropiate. |

Have her submit sketches/cartoons for review by her patron. Insist on approval. Okay the design you like best. Give her freedom to create, but interfere (during the process) enough so she knows whose door/home it is.
Oppose any future destruction (or even modification) of the art, no matter how loudly the neighbors complain. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

You can always paint it over if it's inappropiate. Do not do this to art. Never. If it offends you, replace the door and donate the art to a gallery (or back to the artist). If you cannot afford to replace the door, live with the art until such time as you can afford to replace the door. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | Number 3! But, you must posts pics of the finished painting here. Tell her it's part of the deal. Also, if you don't like the finished piece, she has to buy the door.
At no point should any part of the deal be to paint over it! | | | Just in from somewhere left of the middle of nowhere The Holy See Hell |

So most likely she paying it would in the end mean, him paying it Anyway # 3, its just a garage door. Though it might be better to use some of the colour theme from the surroundings, so that it doesnt look too out of place. |

| Posted: | | | | Have her paint the door. Encourage her to utilize her talents. My daughter is in her second year at college and looking to attend R.I.S.D after her course of study is completed. Her artork is proudly displayed throughout the house. If she wanted to paint the garage door I let her. |
