| Posted: | | | | Has anyone ever heard reason's why this movie starring Kevin Bacon has never been released on a region 1 DVD in North America. It seems like a lot of worse things have?
I also collect John Ritter material and the movie Americathon has never seen the light of day. It is much better than Hero at Large which is available. | | | Brian |

How about because it bombed at the box office, and Kevin Bacon hasn't had a hit in forever. Its all about the bottom line, and the least likely to make money is the least likely to get the DVD treatment. | | | John

Americathon is one I will grab the moment it hits DVD! Some of its gag predictions for the future of 1998 in this 1979 Firesign Theater film are coming true!! For example: It is a world run out of oil and freeways are now bicycle paths ~ This article about oil supplies on the Drudge Report today states we will be in trouble in four years. The United States if being foreclosed upon by outside owners ~ The US is suffering a massive trade deficit being funded by foreign investors. The outside owners are actually American Indians who are our richest citizens ~ Indian CasinosA cup of coffee costs twenty dollars ~ Getting there: StarbucksNorth Dakota is the first all-gay state ~ Brokeback Mountain (okay, that was Wyoming, I know) The Beach Boys are still going strong ~ Still TouringBritain became America's 42nd State - hmmmThe Middle East is conspiring to rule the world ~ YUPHarvey Korman is the star of a cross dressing sitcom called "Both Mother and Father." - Mrs. DoubtfireSan Diego is sold to Mexico ~ Being given away for free |

| Posted: | | | | By "hosting the image" you copy the image to your computer, and then upload the image to any site where you control the content -- a website of your own or one of the image hosting sites (like flickr). Then to post the image from your site as a picture. That way, the original host does not have to pay bandwidth usage on other people's (your) use of the image. For example, the lolcats images I post are taken from Creative Commons sites (where this practice is encouraged), I download the images of the kitties & puppies to my site, where I link to them in posts. If you hotlink (link images from sites you do not control), the owner of the site might retaliate by renaming another image to the one you're linking to, and your smilie face may suddenly look like: ...which I used in a vain attempt to thwart a bandwidth thief we once had here. (Another one I used was: for the same troll.) Best, | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.
