I am just curious what people thought about the series finale for Stargate SG-1.  I really didn't like the opening sequence as, based on what happened and the reason they were there, someone who should have been there wasn't.  Also, I think they tried to cram too much into a single hour.  A 2 hour finale would have been better for me.

I should admit that I didn't think this was their best season.  Definitely not a season to end a 10 year run.  Some of the episodes just didn't seem to fit.  Maybe that's just me.

Still have to watch second half of S9 and full S10.

After watching these S9 episodes and the introduction of the Ori I am still convinced the S8 finale would have been a good series finale.

I don't mind the ending at all. For one thing, the true ending comes in the first direct to dvd movie, when they wrap up the Ori storyline.

Then they will release the second direct to dvd movie.

If they both sell well enoygh, they planon doing at leat two direct to DVD movies per year. With that, Atlantis and the new Stargate series that willl debut in 2009, Stargate will live for a long, long time.

I am currently buying and watching the individual season sets at the moment.  I am currently in the middle of season five.  Once I get to season eight, I will have to see if I agree...I like the addition of Claudia Black so don't know if I will or not.

It's not that I minded the ending, but it left me wanting more...which, I guess, was the point.

Claudia is great, but Ben is Ben and not Richard - and I love Farscape.

Enjoyed it myself but I do agree it could have been longer.

I like the aged Teal'c  Should be cool for the movies.

The best part for me was Walter counting down as each chevron was engaged and then finally "chevron seven... Locked!"  For those of you who watched the early years you know this was a big deal on the 1st missions. It was great to have it there. Definitely meant for those of us who know every nuance of the show and was appreciated.

Another great part was when Daniel Jackson told how you tell the difference between the Asgards (since they all look alike). He said "you can tell by the voice". Subtle, yes. But to a true fan, funny (check out who does the voice of Thor if you didn't get the reference - you would have missed it in the show as well  ) yes, I was the only one in the room who laughed

The producers and writers have done a superb job throughout all ten seasons. Even after the loss of RDA  they managed to keep it going and fresh. IMO it is one of the few shows that enjoys itself and is not afraid to poke fun at itself (wormhole extreme anyone  )

The ending itself brought a sniffle.  Nice part about it was it was obviously NOT the end!!!!

Us Brits saw the finale season 10 a while ago, we started just a couple of weeks after you saw the first episode of season 10 in the US..but unlike you we din't have the mid season break ours went straight through.

The sad part was the TV company dropping the show...the happy part is that the producers say they have at least two direct to DVD film's lined up to follow on from where season 10 finished. First being due sometime in 2008... soon be July 2007...not long now.

Spoilers about these film's are around a lot of the Stargate site's if you are so inclined for spoilers.

I didn't realize it was the ending until my brother asked what I thought of the finale.  I do not Carter will be on Atlantis next season.

I haven't watched it yet!!
I have watched everything for SG1 except the last 4 episodes of season 10 and all of Atlantis.
I managed to get hold of dowloaded episodes for season 10 of SG1 and season 3 of Atlantis and am looking forward to what comes next.
I really love the series (both SG1 and Atlantis)   and am extremely disappointed   to be losing SG1 as a regular item, but admittedly 10 seasons is a good long run, and I did think that season 8 would be the last. That would have been quite a good ending for the series!

I thought it was good, but it could have been better. Can't wait for the movies.
