Never watch "FWWM" before the Series - it ruins everything (almost )... As for marathon - I watched the whole series and movie in one go a couple of years back - 26 hours if I remember correctly.... | | | Berak

Interesting results on the voting thus far, I actually thought BOB was almost a bit overexplained. But I guess both are technically right, huh? | | | Erik

Quote: A film in need of a director's cut if there ever was one. Lynch has had final cut since 'Blue Velvet', so the release version of FWWM is the director's cut. Probably is, but there's some debate over that to this day: "First, the movie was, in uncut form, about 3:40, in contrast to the measly 2:14 that it pulled in at in the theatres. He [Co-writer Bob Engels] said that they expect to distribute the uncut version eventually on laserdisc, but the folks in charge wouldn't let them get away with a movie that long, apparently. Who the "folks in charge" are, exactly, I'm not sure, but it wasn't Robert Engels, anyway."Quote: Of course, I would love to see the deleted scenes, but not reinstated into the film. I disagree, I'd like to see both versions out. While I've argued that putting more or less the entire focus on Laura Palmer makes the film more "intense" (no small breaks/breaths of air to meet this character from the series, then this, etc.) the film does have a good bunch of holes. You never see Laura write the last entries in her secret diary, record the tapes to Dr. Jacoby, and so forth. Forget the others right now. | | | Erik

| Posted: | | | | Ultimately FWWM is Laura's film, so any scenes that distract from that (such as the one where Dell returns a two-by-four to Pete because it doesn't measure exactly two-by-four) shouldn't be in there IMO. I think there are a couple of scenes featuring Laura that probably would work if they were reinstated - one where she visits Jacoby, one where see goes to see Ben - but I think FWWM is almost pefect as it is. One of the deleted scenes that I would really love to see is when Sheriff Cable and Agent Desmond get into a fight | | | Gary

Right, mentioned this above, and it lends the film a more focused (well, Lynch-ian focus ), claustrophobic, and unrelenting narrative. Quote: I think there are a couple of scenes featuring Laura that probably would work if they were reinstated - one where she visits Jacoby, one where see goes to see Ben - but I think FWWM is almost pefect as it is. Yes, it's a flawed masterpiece, IMHO. Quote: One of the deleted scenes that I would really love to see is when Sheriff Cable and Agent Desmond get into a fight That I'd really like to see. These days where every b-movie gets an extended cut I'd personally enjoy the option of having the long cut of FWWM... | | | Erik

I'm not so sure if I agree that both are correct , but to get into who's right and who's wrong here, would start a never-ending discussion with no possible solution... I know who I think did it, that's for sure... | | | Berak

These days where every b-movie gets an extended cut I'd personally enjoy the option of having the long cut of FWWM... I think a seamless-branching 'extended' version incorporating the deleted scenes would be the ideal solution Of course, Lynch still has to bring the deleted scenes up to scratch, and no idea when that will happen | | | Gary
