Yeah, and she was married to one of the most corrupt and immoral politicians ever to occupy the White House. LBJ was legendary in both Texas, and Washington, D.C., for the imaginative ways he accumulated power at the expense of everyone he came in contact with, and the sheer volume of corruption under his aegis. Yeah, LBJ was a real peach of a guy, and his wife had to be a dumb as a box of rocks not to know what was going on. | | | John

Her love of nature and the environment had an effect on my outlook on life - something I will carry with me forever. |

You have a knack for blowing things out of proportion. Slagging off on her husband and calling her dumb as rocks on the day of her death is pretty terrible in my opinion. I had a ton of respect for Lady Bird. It was tough to follow Jackie Kennedy. I think she really progressed the role of First Lady in a positive way. She leaves a definitely classy legacy. | | | ...James

Back on topic... agreed, a sad day. BS. I'm sick of all that fake emotion for people who've died. Anybody who could spend a lifetime with a guy who was as morally bankrupt and genuinely corrupt as LBJ is either ignoring the facts, or is too damn stupid for words. Truth is, I've heard stories for years that Ladybird was not exactly the pussycat everybody makes her out to be. Not surprising considering she was married to who she was. What do you care for anyway, Lopek, you're a Brit? | | | John

You could keep you mouth shut, and have a little respect for others. Quoting Rifter: Quote: What do you care for anyway, Lopek, you're a Brit? I give people respect who have earned it, not just because they're famous. | | | John

Especially since it was said numerous times in the old forum that this platform should stay clear of politics, as this is not the appropriate place for that type of discussion... | | | Lutz |

Agree, but then this part of the forum rule should be adjusted: "...Religious or political discussion specifically should be kept within the general discussion areas." This should be replaced by: "Religious or political discussions are not wanted" | | | Thorsten |

| Posted: | | | | IIRC, the community did this adjustment in a kind of unwritten agreement since this type of discussion in the past got out of hand even faster than topics like H/B/C and such... | | | Lutz |
