| Posted: | | | | For me, the last movie was based purely on price ... was at the shops and saw a double movie for $1.50 - so bought it ... which made me think, what reasons do people come up with to buy their movies |

| Posted: | | | | I purchased 3 together. I went into Best Buy to get a gift card for someone else. I couldn't just leave empty handed; could I? The Other Side of Midnight: Cinema Classics Collection Region 1 Released: 3/6/2007 Anamorphic 1.85:1 This was the 2nd movie I ever saw on HBO. HBO was so cool at the time because I'd never before seen a film at home without commercials. My dad and I started watching this one afternoon and the scenes got a little "adult". Then my mom came home. She booted me out of the room. So I figure now that it's 30 years later, I should be old enough to watch it. Punch-Drunk Love: Superbit: Two Disc Special Edition Region 1 Released: 6/24/2003 Anamorphic 2.35:1 I purchased this earlier in the year from the Amazon Marketplace. The copy I received was not in the original packaging. I saw it on the shelf today and it was cheap, so I "upgraded" to get the original packaging. Brought it home to find that the digipak for one of the discs is broken. Hate that! Premonition: Widescreen Region 1 Released: 7/17/2007 Anamorphic 2.40:1 I saw this in a hotel and thought it was pretty cool. I liked the puzzle aspect and having to wrap my head around it. The DVD cost only slightly more than what I paid to watch it in P&S on the hotel TV. So...I voted for "impulse". | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | Bought Leaving Las Vegas on HD DVD. Never seen the movie, never owned the DVD, so a good reason to expand my growing collection of HD movies. I try to buy movies I don't already own on DVD, although some titles you just have to have in HD even if you already own them... | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | the last one i bought was adventures of priscilla, queen of the desert, not only because i loved the movie but because it was finally available in anamorphic widescreen...which is very important when you have a 60" hd tv. and for the record, it took me 10 minutes to remember what the last thing i bought was...because it's saturday and i'm only on my second cup of coffee... krik so then he got smart and opened DVD profile and checked and the other last thing he bought was Hellboy Animated: Blood & Iron because he must keep his hellboy collection complete...plus we thought it was might fine. | | | "Vampirism is still not a disease, Julia. | Posted: | | | | I just received Beauty & the Beast's second season and Wanted: Dead or Alive's second season as well, both by mail from Deep Discount, pre-ordered months ago. The last movie I bought was a copy of "Unforgiven" from a Long's Drugs in Kailua while we were there on vacation. It was very inexpensive and my wife & I had enjoyed it on premium cable when it first hit TV, we taped it, but loaned the tape (which was never returned -- I do not loan DVDs at all, I do not care that you're my mother) but had not seen it since. So, while I voted for "Loved the movie, and wanted it", "Price - was cheap" was nearly as valid. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | There's a thread at DVDTalk.com about bargain priced DVDs turning up at Big Lots. Somebody posted that they bought "The Secret Lives of Dentists" for only $2 at Big Lots and what a fantastic movie it is.
So there at my Big Lots is a copy of "The Secret Lives of Dentists" for $2, and now I see it is directed by Alan Rudolph! I rarely buy movies I don't know about, but the price/recommendation/director trifecta was irresistible.
I haven't actually watched it yet. I just now dropped it off at my Mom's to let her test drive it for me.
UPDATE: Mum loved it, said it is really really good. | | | Last edited: by djskyler |

Hmmm... they replaced a KMart (I never went in) near me with a Big Lots (which I have yet to enter). Perhaps it's worth the trip inside... | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | I always buy on impulse and usually the 5.00 bin at Walmart. If you hit it right you can get some great films. But bought Clerks II yesterday after filling up at the gas station. Yes you can buy DVD's there as well. | | | Last edited: by Bill MacNeill |
