| Posted: | | | | I've loved the movie Brazil since I was a teenager and I've wanted it on DVD for many years but I have to confess that I'm unsure which version is the best.
I know there's a Criterion edition as well as at least two others.
Does anyone here know or know how I can find out?
Thanks. | | | I was wise once; when I was born, I cried - Welsh proverb |

As a rule of thumb: If there is a Criterion, it's the best. In this case, the reissue with the anamorphic transfer clearly wins. Whether you buy the single disc or the 3 disc boxset depends on dough and how much extra material you can cope with. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | The 3-disc Criterion is the way to go. There's no other edition that can do justice to it. Wondrous stuff. | | | Funny, these cookies don't taste anything like Girl Scouts.

| Posted: | | | | Just make sure you purchase the "2nd edition" of it, as early versions were not anamorphic, or at least, I saw two listings for it on Amazon, and checked it out to find that was the reason for the newer release

If you go for the Criterion edition, make sure you get the re-issue. |

| Posted: | | | | Thank you all. I was eyeing the re-issue and that seems the way to go.
I'll tell the wife and have it by next week.
Again, thanks. | | | I was wise once; when I was born, I cried - Welsh proverb |

| Posted: | | | | Right, the original issue of the Criterion set was nonanamorphic (though it was among the very best nonanamorphic transfers, it still can't compare to the anamorphic reissue). The reissue's the one to go for. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |
