| Posted: | | | | Dan, I want to make sure I understand the way we should be now profiling any non box set release (Parent/Child) that is packaged in with a slip case.
Any single release that is packaged with a slip case regardless if the actual movie is in a Keepcase (example like Criterion's "The Royal Tenenbaums") or in a digipack (example like Warner's Special Edition relaase of "Adventures of Robin Hood") the case types will now be Slip Case?
Same reason why if a movie comes in a Tin we use Custom.
Box Set releases (not to be confused with case type) we still handle them the same way. Parent gets its case type and each individual child will have the case type of the actual DVD? | | | Are you local? | Posted: | | | | I really don't see the point of using Slip Case for a single film in a Keep Case that they decided to stick a slip case around.
Ken,
PLEASE GIVE US A CHECK BOX FOR SLIP CASE SO WE CAN STILL KNOW WHAT THE REAL CASE IS THAT HOLDS THE DVD!!!!! | | | Hal |

Now THAT is a good idea. It was suggested a couple of years ago and was one of the options in the last case type request. It seems Ken made his choice but he has been, in the past, convinced to change things. | | | Dan |

The better question would be, "Why don't you want Hal to be able to track that information?" If we follow your logic, we are going to need a case type 'Slip Case' for those DVDs that come in a Keep Case inside of a Slip Case. Ken,
PLEASE GIVE US A CHECK BOX FOR SLIP CASE SO WE CAN STILL KNOW WHAT THE REAL CASE IS THAT HOLDS THE DVD!!!!! I have to agree 100%... I couldn't care less if a single movie release has a slipcase or not. In my opinion (and will be in my local) for single releases what is important is the kind of case that hold the DVD. I am 100% thrilled with having slip cases for the parent profile of boxsets... but to use such on a single movie release... to me is ridiculous... In my eyes who cares if there is a slip case over the keep case or single digipak. I would be fine with having a check box for this info on single releases... but it just sounds beyond stupid to me personally not to put keep case (or digipak) for a single movie in a keep case (digipak)that also just happens to have a slip cover. | | | Pete |

As for your statement, why do you need another case type field for the inner case? Please read what I said. You have claimed that the proper way to indicate the case is based on what is outside. Using that logic, DVDs that are released in Keep Cases inside of a Slip Case should have the case type 'Slip Case'. At the moment we are using Keep Case. Based on your statements in the other thread, that is incorrect and we need a case type 'Slip Case' added to the program. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. This might need some rethinking as it doesn't seem to be a popular path to take. It may be tidy and consistent but if it's not the information that people want to know, it's of little value. | | | ...James

The outer case is to be used. The outer case is what you see at the store. This is the same reason we use the outer case for the images. So you are advocating a new case type selection for Slip Case? BTW, I can't find your statement anywhere in the rules. Please point me to the appropriate passage in the rules. Also, every digipack I own comes in some sort of a sleeve. That is the nature of that type of case. Seems quite silly, at least to me, to now lump them into the same catagory as Keep Cases inside a sleeve. One last thing, I will quote that post only when it is made by Ken. And Ken might want to take a long hard look at what the community really wants here before making that kind of statement. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Ken has always been a reasonable man... as he has proved over and over again since I originally joined. he has always given the majority what they wanted as long as it was possible. So *gulp* maybe it is time for a poll on this matter so Ken can see how everyone feels on the matter. | | | Pete |

Most (or many) of the titles that comes in keep case inside slip case, uses the slip case only for a limited time.
