Warner Bros. to Turn All 15 Oz Books Into MoviesQuote: "After purchasing the rights to the Oz books from Ted Turner Warner Bros., along with Village Roadshow Pictures, will be taking Spawn creator Todd McFarlane's idea to produce movies based on the Oz books. They've obtained the rights to the 14 titles written by 'The Wizard of Oz' author L. Frank Baum, as well as the the fifteenth book ('The Royal Book of Oz'), written by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Screen Writer John Olson's 'vision is of a bit tamer PG movie and hopefully the two can find some middle ground of compromise that will please them both and not hurt the final product.'" -drjenkins | | | They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety. --Benjamin Franklin |

Doesn't look much like its aimed at kids, either. Always thought a darker, more sinister Oz would be much more interesting. | | | John

A well written, well made film, created by Disney just before Eisner took over. When Eisner took over, the film was dumped into very few theaters, and virtually no publicity... they started with a "new regime sweeps clean" and a "we cannot have the previous administration's work be successful" sort of paranoia. Despite its use of two different Baum Oz books as its source, the film feels much more like the tone of his work than any other version of Oz that I've seen. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.
