It just occurred to me that I can improve on the quality of the thumbnails used inside DVDP using a program I already have installed, IrfanView (free app) by replacing the existing thumbnails with a higher quality version. Edges are clearer, reds aren't as artifiacted, and smaller items such as text is easier to see. DVDP has no option to set the thumbnail quality. ExampleAfter you install and run IrfanView, you'll see this window Press the B button to bring up the Batch Operations window. Browse to the DVDP Images directory with the "Look In" selection. This directory is typically located under My Documents\DVD Profiler\Databases\Default\Images. Click the "Add all" button. Now click the Browse button for "Output directory" and browse to the Thumbnails directory located under the Images directory referenced in the previous step. You can also browse to this directory in Windows Explorer to make a backup copy of the directory if you wish. Click the "Batch conversion" radio Select "JPG - JPEG Format" as the Output format Set the "Use advanced options" checkbox Click the Options button Set the JPeg compression ratio you wish to use. Higher is better but keep in mind that it increases your file size. Click OK when done. Now click the "Set advanced options" button Here you can fine tune the batch operation on the images. I circled the items you should set. The higher the Sharpen value, the more the image is sharped. Click the OK button Now you're ready to recreate the thumbnails - click the Start button. |
