| Posted: | | | | These days there are a lot of movies out based on video games and more to come. This is going to be a pretty open topic, but what are your thoughts of video game movies already made, ones that are coming out, and what games would you like to see made into movies?
I think Resident Evil one was good and three was crap. And Uwe Boll couldnt make a good video game movie if his life depended on it. The one movie I am looking forward to is Hitman. And Halo could be good, if it ever comes to be. | | | Schultzy - http://www.michaelschultz.net grenactics - The art of skillfully fraggin one’s opponent with the use of grenades or other compact explosive devices that are thrown by hand or projected. |

What I don't get is that they already that the story done for them. You turn the story into a script which shouldnt be that difficult. Find actors that can act and good effects and you have a movie. But I feel the smae way baout comic book movies. |

The trouble is video games rely on much more to get the story across, so it's not as simple as translating a pre-written story to a script. (Often the same with comic books, although they are usually picking one moment out of a long history so will always struggle to please everybody.) For me Half Life 2 has a really well written story when played as a game (although episode 2 was disappointing) but if I boil it down to just the story and not the part played in the game and the set pieces you take part in, it really would need a lot of work to turn it into a decent film. Especially as the character you play is a mute. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |
