| Posted: | | | | Let's say you've bought two items.
One $8, one $12. Shipping costs $4.
Do you split it in half, thus $10 and $14 or do you split according to price, thus $9.60 and $14.40? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Are you talking about the price paid field on the Personal screen in DVDP?
I don't include shipping at all in there. Shipping is just an incidental fee that determines how fast I get my DVD, but it doesn't change the fact you paid $8 or $12 for the disc. I could go cheap and wait 2 weeks or I could pay some insane next-day ship fee and get it sooner, but either way the disc itself cost the same. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

| Posted: | | | | I don't enter tax or shipping costs, either. And if I get a get a "Buy 3 get 1 free deal" I'll usually show the "free" one as just that -- free. It's complicated enough to enter all the rest of the data about the DVD that I don't want to bother figuring out or do proportional data entries. I WILL enter the sale price, however. The only time I consider shipping and tax is when I'm trying to determine which vendor to buy the DVD from. Our sales tax just went up from 5% to 6% in Maryland. I shudder to think about a VAT of 17.5% like Funky mentioned. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. When I import stuff from the US my calculation goes as follows
US price / 1.56 * 1.035 * 1.19 = DE price
where the 3.5% are the customs fee and the 19% are the import tax (EUSt) | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Not an original answer, but I don't enter anything than the price for the DVD in the price paid field. I ignore the federal tax, provincial tax, the shipping or the custom fee (not that big, since it's only 5$ if they catch a package who have more than a 20 $CAN value).
Sometimes I'm almost tempted to add the shipping (the european Amazon marketplace charge sometimes equal three times the value of the DVD). |
