| Posted: | | | | When (year/movie) did Disney switch from the 4:3 aspect ratio to a widescreen aspect ratio for their animated features?
Also, are their any titles that would be an exception to that switch. I know some Direct to Video releases were probably made with an AR of 4:3. Two specific titles that I would like to verify are Aladdin 2 & 3. Are the current dvd's OAR? Is there a good source that people use to find this information?

This should give you some info. The cropping looks bad in many scenes of part 3.

The very FIRST Disney Widescreen anikmated feature was Lady and the Tramp. In fact the strudio actually produced TWO separate versions of the film, remember in 1955 Widescreen theaters were a rarity, MOST theaters were still Academy Rato screens. So the Studio created two difeferent version of Lady, one for Academy ratio houses and one for the new Widescreen houses. Cinderella which was Disney's next animated also has its own first, it was the first animated feature-length film to be produced in 2.35:1
