| Posted: | | | | I hope he's more successful than Fess Parker was when Fess tried to get what he was owed for both Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. I remember reading somewhere that Fess was treated so badly and hardly made any money for Davy Crockett that he made sure his contract for Daniel Boone would pay him a percentage of the gross earnings. However, somehow that series never made any profit according to the producers, so his percentage of the gross was a percentage of zero -- so he got nothing beyond his initial salary. Typical of Hollywood lawyers who can make claims that nothing ever makes any money so the performers and behind camera personnel don't have anything to share.
I hope Jack Klugman gets his due. He's a graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology, in Pittsburgh (I graduated from Carnegie Tech, too, in 1970 -- though not from the Drama School and by 1970 it had become Carnegie Mellon University.) I think we alums should stick together. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. Well Fess, is getting his due these days, at least for Boone, it appears that somewhere along the way he acquired ownership of the series and he "oversaw" the restoration for DVD and the serieshas done quite well for him. As for Crockett, that was simply our Uncle Walt being himself, much as admire the man he did have his faults. I don't know if Fess received any money from the pair of DVD releases Crockett has seen thus far.<shrugs>
BTW Fess' winery produces an excellent wine.

| Posted: | | | | Its a shame that Klugman has to do this, but if his contract states that he should any future profits, then go for it. Also since his production company produced the show, shouldn't he be recieivng residuals from the DVD? | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | @Skip, I hope you're right about Fess' making money on the Daniel Boone DVDs. It does sound likely as you describe it. But I remember years ago that he said one of the reasons he stopped acting regularly was because of feeling he was cheated out of what he'd earned by producers.
BTW: It always has amazed me the chutzpa shown by Hollywood "suits" who can show creative accounting documents to "prove" that a particular production didn't make any money. The kind of attitude they displayed while negotiating during the writers' strike. To hear them poor-mouth their receipts, you'd wonder where all the vast sums of money spent on DVDs in recent years went. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges.
