| Posted: | | | | I've had the original Indy box set on my wishlist for quite some time now, but for whatever reason never picked it up. Now, this week, Target has the new special editions on sale for $10 each (or $9 for me since I work there), which makes it hard to turn down. But, I've read that the film transfers are almost identical, if not in fact the same, as the previous trilogy set. And the trilogy set contains the bonus disc with, what I hear is, an excellent documentary on the series.
So the question is, do I pick up the set individually (which, in theory, will look better on the shelf series-wise when the 4th film comes out later this year) and go the cheaper route or do I grab the original box set while it's still available for about $10 more to get the bonus disc? Thoughts? | | | My phpDVDprofiler collection |

| Posted: | | | | Well from what I know is the box set has been ( finally ) broken down into individual editions which are the same transfers as the previous boxed editions. The bonus disc, unavailable by itself, is what you get when you buy the box set .
Now,, when will BTTF be sold individually??? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

The funny thing is, despite being listed as "special edition" in both retail stores and on online stores, the words "special edition" don't appear anywhere on either the front or rear cover. | | | My phpDVDprofiler collection |

| Posted: | | | | A review at digitalbits.com said, that the image quality is improved a little and that the extras on the individual discs are new. They somewhat suggested that fans could exchange the new discs with the three discs from the previous set, holding on to the fourth disc.
However, rumor(!) has it, that a Blu-Ray version of those films might come as soon as later this year, when Indy IV is coming to home video. So, I for one can see through their scheme and will wait what happens with that. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

| Posted: | | | | I just watched the complete boxset last week. The featurettes are somewhat interesting, but the 3 making of documentaries (with a combined running time of about 2 hours) are very interesting indeed.
I would definitely recommend the boxset. The complete boxset is available from Amazon.com for 24.99$, which is cheaper as the price you would pay for the 3 movies combined.

| Posted: | | | | As much as I love Lucas and his films he is infamous for milking fans dry. He has eaten up all the pennies of poor Star Wars fans for years. Completest who have to own every version of the film have like 5. I do not fault him for wanting to make money but, this new release with strong industry rumors for a Blu-ray release in November, this is just making more profit. Just my two cents and no, I will not be buying this edition. | | | Last edited: by Lord Of The Sith |

I just know that in several months down the line when I finally get around to buying the new sets (because I can't help myself) ... a month later, he'll come out with a different version... and then when the 4th movie is released they'll come out with a new "Quad" set and ... URGH!
BTW: Are you 100% Sure they're finally done releasing Star Wars versions on DVD?

...(and did the one with the monkeys ever come out? LOL) ... Yeah like what do you think will debut first on BD ?? Star Wars 4/5/6 or 1 thru 6 or 1/2/3 ? or Indiana Jones trilogy? or just the latest fourth installment? Lucas has so many options and yet, so little time in this dimension.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Regards Yeah, I saw that too. That price plus the bonus disc pretty much makes up my mind. Now, I'll just have to find something really cheap to add to the order to get the free shipping! | | | My phpDVDprofiler collection |

...(and did the one with the monkeys ever come out? LOL) ... No I am not, and I doubt it. There will be Blu-ray for sure. Also as long as George knows we'll buy he'll put out more. I heard a rumor from some industry people not sure how true, but the Star Wars Christmas Special MIGHT get a DVD release. Now that is just collecting money. As for the first Blu release my bet is Indy at the end of the year in time for Christmas... |

As for the first Blu release my bet is Indy at the end of the year in time for Christmas... I'd say you'd see the unaltered Original Trilogy on Blu-Ray before you see the Christmas Special officially released on any format. As far as Indiana Jones goes, I was under the impression that Lucas has less control over the releases of those then he does as far as Star Wars. I know I've read comments/articles where other entities at LucasFilm would be happy to release the original trilogy in its unaltered form (as a proper release, not some non-anamorphic laserdisc transfer on a 'bonus' disc). But because of Lucas' control it won't happen. While I know he has influence (I believe it is his influence keeping a R1 release of Howard the Duck from us, which I'd actually say you'd probably see that before the X-Mas special [I'd say best bet for that would be a special feature, and probably as a well hidden easter egg at that]) I didn't think he had that much over Indiana Jones (at least as far as releases go) because of Spielberg's involvment and the studio owned it unlike with Star Wars. -Agrare |
