If anyone owns and watched the Alien vs. Predator Requiem Unrated DVD (standard def), you'll know how DARK this movie is. You can hardly see a thing.

When looking at the original trailer that was posted to IGN before the movie came out, it looked like this:

This is the exact same scene as captured from the Unrated edition standard def DVD:

This clearly looks like a product defect to me.

Does anyone know anything more about this? Is the studio planning on replacing these discs? I can't see how they actually intended it to look this way.
99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1."

This was discussed on the forums before and I believe it was said to have been done on purpose...something about trying to hide the poor alien costuming. Or something to that effect.

The Blu-Ray disc is also very dark. Even the scenes in daylight seem too dark.

If you watch the featurettes, they will tell you it was done on purpose.  It sounded like a good idea, but I think they took it way to far.

The reason they don't do it for the trailers should be obvious...if you saw the second image in a trailer, would you go see that movie?
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
