| Posted: | | | | Hi I am building a Flex (web based) version of DvD Profiler.
I know there is a php version of a web based DvD Profiler. But I wanted to build a out of the box web based version without the need of a dbase and/or other server restrictions. So you don't need to create a dbase or have to have a php or asp based server.
Just put a HTML with flex file and your covers + collection.xml on the server and it works.
It is language independent.
Features: - Serarch box - Collection list selectable - Thumbnail covers - Big fullscreen popup covers - Barcode - Overview - DvD Information
Future Features: - Complete Rebuild / devide screens (for speed and updating) - Rebuild of loading Collection file (no popup) - IMDB search / links - Playable Trailer per DvD - More information about DvD (spread over tabs) - Online Loan possibility - Actor link to IMDB
You can see it working here : http://www.vandersluijs.nl/dvdprofiler/dvdprofiler.html
I will release a first version beta soon.
I really would like to have some beta testers and people who think about new features.
At the moment my site is dutch, hope to translate it soon. |

I would like to test it (on local XAMPP and/or at my webservice-provider) and depending on the amount of neccessary work might be able to contribute a german translation. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | Looks quite good for an Alpha.
But I see some problems coming up if you insist on using the name DVDProfiler and/or the DVDProfiler database. Remember that this product is commercial software and the one holding the rights is Invelos. So if you intend to use their name and/or database you should ask for their permission to do so. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Looks nice. I'm willing to try this one out myself. | | | Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer. |

| Posted: | | | | Rather impressive but it looks like it'll be best suited to smaller collections since you send your full collection xml file to the browser with the initial page load. My file is already over 15 MB and users with slow connections won't even bother with viewing it considering that I change it frequently which requires redownloading it. |

| Posted: | | | | I think it looks fantastic. Although I'm a web developer, I'm not familiar with Flex. What is it? | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

Jep, but maybe one could ommit Actors and Crew from the XML for streamlining. Shrinks my 15MB export to 4,6MB cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | My current XML export is just over 72MB (all in). If you'd like to try it, I can make it available to download ... | | | -fred |
