| Posted: | | | | Hi all,
according to IMDB the movie was shot in 1,75:1 but all DVDs I can find are in 1,33:1. Does anybody know if IMDB is right, and/or if there is a DVD with the correct aspect ratio?
Thanks | | | |

| Posted: | | | | Like movie credits, imdb is often wrong about other details...and I've seen plenty of incorrect aspect ratios listed on there. I don't know about Them!, but I kind of doubt that 1.75:1 was a valid ratio back then. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | Like Kat said IMDb is rife with errors, major and mnor and should not be trusted for anything. It IS possible that Them MAY have been shot in some form of Widescreen (1.75 is highly questionable), but there were VERY few Widescreen theaters in 1954. For example, the very next year, 1955, Walt Disney released "Lady and the Tramp" and he actually released in two formats Widescreen and Academy ratio...why...because there was not enough Widescreen theaters in which the film could be shown, the major metro areas, New York and LA had Widescreen theaters most of rest of the country did not at that time.

| Posted: | | | | This review indicates it was 1.33:1 initially. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | For movies in that period (1953-54), it was more likely that it was shot to be shown full-frame, but once the widescreen craze took hold, Academy ratio movies ended up being cropped to be wide. So even if Them! was shown theatrically at some venues in widescreen, it was probably meant originally to be seen full-frame. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |
