I also would love an app that runs under anriod. Andriod is the fastest growing mobile operating system of all time. It would be a great business desision to suport it

from the reports I have seen coming out of CES and on the web, it appears that most mobile manufacturers are going to producing half or MORE of their future cell phones on the Android platform. add in the rapidly expanding tablet market that is going to be running Android OS and it would be a very smart business decision to have an Android version on the market.

My Windows Mobile PC phone contract expires in 2 months and I am seriously looking at an Android phone. I too refuse to go with the iPhone since service in my area sucks. Count me as another vote.

Add me to the list of users wanting an Android version. I am a registered user of DVD Profiler Mobile, but no longer use my Windows Mobile PDA since switching to a HTC Droid Eris for my phone.

While I'll be honest that I didn't read the several pages of this thread there are a few other things to consider that doing the Devl work for the Andorid phone. It will give you a code base to start making a linux or OSX variant as the Android runs a *nix core as it's os. The with the core work done, minor work should be needed to get it to port over to OSX ( a BSD Unix varian ) and Linux.

Considering the Sprint and Verizon are both sporting android phones, AT&T is about to get into the game ( There are people using the Euro phones here on AT&T ) I think this would be a solid way to generate more revenue.

I would consider getting a mobile variant license for my Sprint HTC Hero.

I have purchased both the Full PC Version along with the paid mobile version. I own a ton of dvds..and plan to buy tons more. DVD Profiler is not only the best software of its kind it is way ahead of anything else out there. It would be like comparing computers of today to an apple IIe. Even though I have both paid versions i would definitely pay again for an android version. The online portion of dvdprofiler is nice but an actual app would be great. I was sold on dvd profiler basically from the beginning, and even as a free application it was great. I paid for the full licence basically to show my support. Of course you get even more when you buy the full version, but that wasn't the selling point to me. It was great software, it not only did everything I wanted it to do (and trust me I had very high expectations) it actually went far beyond that. So even if they do not support android, I still think anyone who might read this should know how great the software is and maybe the more people we bring over to this software, then the more android users (who will also have the pc version) will be so great in number it will be more of an influence on the developers. Windows mobile is great too. I don't want to slight them. But the android has more versatility. That is why I swithced. More apps makes me happier. so hopefully they will release an android version of this one so i'll be happier.

Before the Windows Mobile version was released, there where at least three different viewers for Windows Mobile based of the XML export (I made one of them). They did obviously not support everything the full version does (being readonly), but where still quite usefull.

You can apparently also find an iPhone version made by a third party.

Maybe something similar will be developed for Android - if not, maybe it's time to learn how to program, or move on to a phone with better development support...

As a Sprint Employee who just upgraded to an Android phone (the Samsung Moment) I too can vouch for the reliability of the the platform and it's growth.  Conservative industry estimates put Android OS on 40% of the PDA smart phones out there by the end of this year (2010).  HTC alone has plans to release something like 17 new Android devices, all but abandoning Windows Mobile.  PLEASE consider development of an Ap for those of us who have collections so large we wind up buying movies we already own on accident.  If only I could take my collection database with me!

Add +1 to the Android request

Depending on the SDK, I might take a stab at some sort of an Android based reader.

I would definitely buy a dvd profiler android app too.

For me, it shouldn't even have to have all the options the regular software has. Just a 'lite' version with basic info of each title, a small pic of the cover, options for loaning etc. and the bar code scanner.

Please...

i would also buy an android version.

a very simple version where I can only view and search my dvd collection would be enough for me (so that i won't buy a dvd twice again

for me the regular dvd collection webpage is too big.

I desperately want to have an Android version too!

Like the other user said a 'lite' version with the basics would be excellent. A basic filter in addition to the basic browsing would be useful.

Android is going to be a huge market...... in fact it already is as far as Apps go.

That fact that people will come across this app in Android Marketplace can also be used to market the full version to people that otherwise would not have known it existed.

Count me in for an Android version of DVD Profiler - As a long time power user of DVD Profiler (dating back to well before the launch of DVD Profiler Mobile), and a former AT&T customer for the past five years, I have decided to give up on dropped calls and slow web access and switch to Verizon, and their Motorola Droid (which will arrive today).

I am in the process of cleaning my old AT&T Tilt for it's eventual auction on eBay and will be without a mobile version of DVD Profiler for the first time since the mobile version was launched.

I would gladly pay for an Android version - I expect that with the powerful features of Android - they would be a perfect match.  Please contact me should you seek an experienced beta tester.
