| Posted: | | | | So this morning I get online and notice that The Three Stooges Collection Vol. 4 was reduced to $16.99 after I paid $21.99 for it and recieved it yesterday. So I e-mail Amazon about getting a $5 refund, since their policy states, "If your order enters the shipping process before the release date and the price is lowered on the release date, we will automatically refund your credit card for the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price." I get a response from some customer service rep that says, "I recognize you have a choice of retailers and appreciate that you prefer to order from us. Unfortunately, we do not have a post-order price guarantee. I've reviewed your order and see that the price change was significant and you just received this item from us. Under the circumstances, I'll make a one-time exception for you and issue a refund for the price difference in the amount of $5.00. Please understand that I'm issuing this refund because of the exceptional circumstances, and I'm doing this for you against our standard policy."
This makes no sense what so ever. In the past I've sent them e-mails about getting the price match on DVDs with no problem at all, even when I notice something went down in price a week later. I think it's amazing that the consumers know more about their policies than the people who work at customer service.

| Posted: | | | | I've ordered several items recently from Amazon UK & then received emails after them shipping saying that the price was reduced so I've been given a refund.
I've never had to contact their customer support but from experience with other companies it often depends on who you speak to. You speak to one person and you'll get one answer, then speak to someone else & get the exact opposite.
Glad you got your refund even if they did seem a bit hesitant to do so. |

| Posted: | | | | I've gotten emails a few times for the price going down on a movie or a book I had pre-ordered. Most of the time the item was already shipped when the price dropped, but they still automatically did it. I've never had to contact them about it.
It kind of sounds like the person who was answering your email just didn't really understand their policy or something. Glad you got your refund. | | | |

| Posted: | | | | The customer service rep sounds confused. Amazon did drop their 30 day post-order low price guarantee on September 1st but the pre-order price guarantee is still standard policy |

| Posted: | | | | I never had this problem with Amazon either. But I just had an interesting problem with Deep Discount. I placed an order with them on the 3rd... and I still haven't got a shipment notice. So I called them today complaining. They said it looks like it will go out today... and gave me a free shipment upgrade because I was a bit aggravated over it. And what happens? The dvds showed up today! They had already shipped it without changing the status to shipped apparently. But one thing that is cool... my Halloween sale orders from both Amazon and Deep Discount came today... so I have 24 new horror movies added to my collection today! | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | They just may not like me. Of the 5 movies I've pre-ordered in the last few months only 1 of them I got an e-mail saying they refunded me $1. If I remember right I've had to e-mail them and request it for 2 or 3 other dvds. | | | We're on a mission from God.

As they charge you at the time of shipping I wonder if they will actually refund you the shipping charges... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | Never had trouble with any Amazon branch in this regard; instead of e-mailing customer services I usually rely on the 'Get refund' button in my order. Considering your experience with CS was very good - they refunded you even though the person you exchanged with was of the opinion you are not entitled to one - I am not quite sure where your peob is. |

| Posted: | | | | I ordered the Blade Runner 5-disc blu-ray set, and the first disc had the "Workprint" on it instead of the "The Final Cut" Amazon promptly shipped out a free replacement, and sent me a pre-paid return label to print out and send back the defective copy. Hopefully the replacement will be correct... | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

| Posted: | | | | I think the refunds are there to be given if the price of the item falls while still in the pre-order stage.
For instance you pre-order a DVD in October that is released in December, say it falls by $4 in that time frame before dispatch, they will then later refund you the difference.
I may be wrong, but that was my understanding of their price promise. | | | DVD Blu-Ray LastFM |
