Obama and McCain at the Al Smith Dinner.  If they aren't careful, you might think they actually liked each other.  I would have a lot more respect for these guys had they shown up earlier in the campaign.

Several YouTube videos here.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

I hear that, John was hysterically funny and Barrack wasn't bad---needs a little work on it.

Both were pretty good... McCain finally found something where his experience actually paid off.  He was definitely better.

As I recall even Bob Dole showed he had a sense of humor at an Alf Landon dinner.  Those dinners sound almost like the Friars' Club roasts Dean Martin copied in the later years of his TV shows.  I wonder who writes their material?  It doesn't seem to be the same people who write their speeches.  Too bad, too.  These dinners show the human side of the candidates that their campaigns often miss.

Exactly.  Wouldn't it be nice if they were always like that?  Human-like I mean.
