| Posted: | | | | The character first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May, 1939. That's almost 70 years now. Besides the comics, there have been several TV series, animated and live action, as well as 6 other films. I wonder why they waited until now to sue? | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

My guess its because The Dark Knight is close to bringing in $1 billion worldwide. I found this quote in the story on Variety, "While the town of Batman has suddenly shown great interest in the property, there's no evidence that the citizenry has ever shown much loyalty to the Caped Crusader -- not even on Halloween." | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | This is of course a bit silly, but I did find one point interesting: he claims that expats of that town have run into legal issues when trying to use the town name to set up businesses. | | | Matthias |

Quote: And people say *Americans* file frivolous lawsuits..... Sure they do 99.999% of them... And sometimes they win. For example the lady who sue McDonald's back in the '90s when she spilled her coffee on her lap when the coffee cup was sitting between her legs, while driving. Gee I didn't know they served hot coffee. Another example of a frivolous lawsuit is is Keith Urban the country singer, sueing Keith Urban the painter over his website. You can read all about it on his (the artist) website, keithurban.com. Oh and I know that the country singer is from New Zealand, just wanted another example. | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | The reason she won that case against McDonald's is because they were serving coffee that was scalding hot - not really drinkable - because they wanted their coffee to still be hot when the buyer reached their destination. |

And it was not the first time that it had happen in this McDonald. The store had received some warning by an inspector before because their coffee was way too hot. So not a frivolous lawsuit at all. |
